Hello,
I am hoping someone can help me with a recommended reading order. I have read the FAQ, and it was helpful, but it did not answer all my questions and I need more specific help... and I like to avoid spoilers.
Now, it's nobody's job to do my homework for me, I realize that. But if anyone here has the knowledge i'm looking for in their fantastic brain, and would like to take a few moments to help me optimize my reading experience, I would appreciate that very much.
I used to be an avid Trek Lit reader, but I got super busy with work and life right around the time they started publishing (what seemed to me like) a dozen books a month, with all intertwined plots and characters.
I tried to put up with it for a while, but when I heard blurbs about Destiny, I was intimidated even further. By that point I was at least a year or two behind in reading; I knew I wouldn't have time to read everything that came before Destiny nor could I keep up while they were publishing books faster than I could find time to read them, so I pretty much gave up and stopped.
Now I am less busy, and I see that Pocket has re-adjusted their practices in a way that makes keeping up more feasible. I have decided I want to catch up from where I was, and get back into the game. And I want to get the best reading experience.
I was mostly interested in DS9-R, so I read it up to Worlds 1 (I stopped after the Andor story).
I never got around to reading the "A Time To.." series or anything published after it in the TNG line.
I've read VOY-R up to the end of Spirit Walk book 1.
I've read NF up to the end of the No Limits anthology.
Never read Titan, Vanguard, or ENT-R although I've read all the previous ENT books up to and including the Deadalus duology.
I read all of SCE up to the end of the fourth MMPB.
I have a faint idea of the crazy shit that's gone down in Titan and the TNG books, because I did read Articles of the Federation (huge West Wing geekette).
What I want to read is:
-Anything DS9-R related
-Anything VOY-R related
-TNG books leading up to Destiny
-Anything I have not already mentioned which has any direct continuity relevance to anything I've listed above (I have a feeling I'm going to be strong-armed into reading Titan but that's okay)
-Everything in the main novel continuity timeframe from Destiny forwards. ie. Typhon Pact which I know very little about.
-I also want to read DTI because, wow, what an awesome idea for a book series.
How I prefer to read them:
-My prioritization for reading order, in descending order of importance: No Spoilers > Chronological > Publishing
-Where possible, I prefer to read books from a single series back-to-back, even if this contravenes publishing order, but not if this creates spoilers to other books.
My question for all of you fine people is, what do I read, and in what order, to get me up to speed where I can again buy them as they come out and read everything?
Thanks in advance for helping me navigate this confusing world.
