Reach ISOT'd to 22nd Century Star Trek

Lord Hierarch

Commander
Red Shirt
The title is a lie.

The idea is a short fic, basically FC between the UNSC/Reach and the UE and other local alien races, and the question of how to handle the Covenant Remnant and their reaction visa versa.

The Epsilon Eridani system in its entirety is ISOT'd to the 22nd century Trekverse.

This includes Reach, Tribute, Beta Gabriel, Circumstance, and Tantalus and other non-inhabited planets and space stuff.

It also includes the ~150 warships of the Epsilon Eridani Fleet.

It also includes all Covenant forces - planetary and space.

So I imagine a few hundred thousand of Covenant troops groundside, and at most:

As engagements continued in orbit over Reach with the Fleet of Valiant Prudence decimated, Shipmaster Kantar 'Utaralee assumed command of the splintered fleet, comprising one Varric-pattern heavy cruiser as the flagship, a pair of Ket-pattern battlecruisers, and eight Ceudar-pattern heavy corvettes, and attempted to lead them in a final effort

So:
  • 1 heavy cruiser.
  • 2 battlecruisers.
  • 8 heavy corvettes.

The ISOT occurs during the destruction of the Supercarrier, August 12, 2552.

They arrived in August, 2152.

ENT uses TOS Warp Scale. For ease, I use this.

While the Axanar live in the Epsilon Eridani system per Beta Canon, we can handwave them living in some other system as per Canon :p.

I'll repost a post from elsewhere:

It did occur to me that while it looks impressive the Covenant forces that came with arent actually that impressive. On the ground well the covenant are pretty screwed, Even in halo canon they were losing way more troops than they could sustain, they relied heavily on reinforcements turning up to maintain cohesion, the UNSC were usually able to kick their asses in most ground side arenas, i imagine if the fleet fled or was destroy they wouldnt last to long on their own.

As for the fleet, it depends on what both sides have left and their status, The most dangerous unit is obviously the Varic class but again it depends on which version it is, If its the invasion version is significantly less dangerous if its the scout version its middling but if its the flagship version thats a nightmare to happen.

The battlecruiser again depends on what the decided to fight, if the isot happened between Operation uppercut and the covenant reinforcements arriving i would imagine the remain covenant would try and fight but ultimatly retreat quickly. The corvettes were able to be taken on 2 - 1 by UNSC frigates or 1-2shot by cruisers, its why they ended up mostly being used as quick ground invasion support or stealth missions.

At this point while yes some crippled ships remained most of the Defense fleets and late arrivals were still capable of fighting, the flagship if i remeber was still lashed to an orbital but the UNSC also still had most of their defense grids and main station, It was only when the reinfrocements arrive they suffered mass casualties and lost their heavy units.

Ultimatly though the worst thing going for the covenant is the fact they are literally stuck without support or infrastructure to maintain their units, Its a army without support and with a point of view that even some of the worst in Trek wouldnt share and even those who would like the dominion wouldnt stand for a rival and try to kill them as soon as possible. Add in also the usually proof they would use to prove their religion doesnt exaclty exist in the Trekverse and most races who know about the high beings or high tech races would scoff at them,

Afterall the Klingons once had gods(advanced race) and promptly killed them all or chased them off their homeworld. Same with the iconicans and such.

As for the UNSC while yes they are likely to be looked on with suspician and some hesitation, they would still be welcomed into the bosom of most of the alpha races, Trek was very friendly for the most part, Add into the fact the horrors the covenant have being doing it wouldnt take much to get the races onside. Say what you want of the Xenophobic UNSC they still were willing to accept the Covenant races once the war was over.

Also im guessing but it sounds like everything around reach came with, thats going to be intresting as if they survive the immediate event, they are going to be along of UNSC wrecks and personnel they can recover and repair(they never got to in OTL even if some ships were only crippled) infact the flagship survived till nearly the end with crew surviving till it was destroyed along with the rest when the covenant left after glassing the planet.

Add to this Covenant wrecks more importantly the Supercarrier halfs, again lots of tech there to salvage and research which again wasnt possible in Canon.

Now saying that the UNSC was avle to build the Infinity hidden in the ort cloud while fighting the war and equip it with reverse engineered systems from the foruneers. Now if they can do that in war time with scraps they found, imagine what they would do with all that salvage coveant tech and whats buried on reach itself.

i just hope if the corssover gets written the halos and such dont show up for reasons, as it would be odd as hell for that to be a thing.

How many Spartans would be running around during this First Contact between United Earth and Reach? You know, for Augument Trauma.
~26 S-II's, and a gaggle of S-III's+Noble Team.

Add in that if they don't have a prophet with them to lead that infighting will begin quite quickly.

I dunno, the Covenant seem pretty willing to keep fighting.

UE humans won't have the Reclaimer issue, I can see the Covenant remnant taking this as a sign their humans are tainted.

The power balance between UE and the UNSC interests me. UE has Earth and at least 3 colonies in the low hundreds/thousands while the UNSC has Reach with ~billion and the other planets in the hundreds of milions and ~150 warships. There's a power imbalance, one that'd get worse when the UNSC gets Trek tech and the Covenant off their backs.

Would Reach submit to UE civilian authority or seek to establish its own civilian governence, or maybe even keep the UNSC in control?

Reach is far more independent of a world and really chafes under UNSC control. I think if they thought they would get a better deal they might go towards the UE.

This reminds me that Reach does have a Innie problem, and many million's of refugee's.

Terra Nova is right around the corner... lot of political goodwill if the UE offers cheap land/and citizenship...

ST Pirates I imagine will be a huge trouble for the UNSC without Trek engines, meaning they might need Starfleet or even Vulcan/Andorian protection.

The ever-loyal Covenant battlegroup refused to accept peace with the degenerate humans of Reach. While the humans of this reality seemed innocent of heresy, they had already been tainted. What few dissenters in the shipmaster's army had been silenced. Exiled to live amongst the irradiated, sunblasted ruins of Sanghelios.

One final battle. One last thrust into the heart of the enemy.

Three light cruisers, and one destroyer. It would be enough.

It took three days to travel from Urs to the Human homestar.

They first emerged near a large gas giant. Sensors scanned the system and fed the combat systems with potential targets and objects of interest. This human homeworld was scarcely defended. Mostly unarmed transports and freighters. The few warships were split between Earth and the red planet.

An hour later, the fleet made its second jump.

Seconds passed. The fleet reemerged over Earth.

Immediately, the destroyer began its descent. A legion's worth of transports flew from its belly to the human capital city.

"Shipmaster, the human task force is altering course!"

"Send the Purity Seal and Resplendent Sanctuary to intercept. We will hold position."

Two light cruisers shifted course and sped towards the human force.

Needle thin beams lashed out and raked across the the pair's shields.

Plasma turrets warmed, collected energy, then fired. The human's smooth saucer hulls boiled away. One of the ships managed to evade. The captain's exchanged excited chatter and gave chase.

Then the Vulcan's arrived.
