Re-Watching Enterprise

I'm currently watching Enterprise 'Shockwave part 1'. It seems like visiting old friends when re-watching this show. I wish Paramount let Enterprise finish it's run. With the popularity of Direct to Video movies like Stargate: The Ark of Truth, and Continuum, why not a DTV of Enerprise? Talk to every fan of the show, and you'll get the same response.

MattJC, normally I would let this slide, but given the enthusiastic near-derailment (of which you were an integral part) of the "Why didn't Sci-Fi pick up ENT" thread with talk about the new movie, I'm going to ask you the same thing here that I asked you there: move discussion of the new movie to that thread.

Well, Crichton did ask why CBS didn't go for Direct-to-DVD Enterprise movies, and I did give him an honest answer. I don't see how I could be warned for that.

Once every other year or so I watch all of star trek in chronological order, starting with Ent, then TOS, then the Movies, TNG, DS9, and Voyager all according to stardate.

^Wow, considering that it would take 18 months to watch eveything from Broken Bow to Endgame, Once "evey other year" is impressive.

I have all the episodes recorded and usually watch at least one every day. I have seen them all probably 10 times at least. Does anybody else do that? Whhich ones do you watch more than others?

Well, I've seen all of them at least once and a few a couple of times. That's more than enough for me.

TOS and TNG on the other hand, I've seen many of those episodes 5+ times and a few of them I've seen more than 10 times.

I didn't say I would warn you, I just made a friendly request. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

Wow. How do you fit all that into one year? That's a boatload of Trek. I'm not sure I can handle that much. :D

No doubt. I love Star Trek, but *that's* devotion.

I wonder why they didn't attempt this. Bakula indicated the support for the Trek franchise vanished. I think to some degree that's right. Since the show ended three (?) years ago, I'm wondering if DTV was popular back then. I remember when Farscape announced Peace Keeper Wars, it seemed like a good idea, but pretty radical and out of the box.

Well, a direct-to-DVD production was thrown around as a possibility by the fans but TPTB weren't interested. After all, they're in it for the money and they probably thought it wouldn't make them any or not enough. ENT was not a cheap show to produce (at the time the figure of 3 million $/episode made the rounds) so you'd have to sell quite a lot of DVDs to make it financially viable and with ENT's low viewing figures they probably didn't think it would work.

I have all four seasons on DVD but I'm still watching the best of the best on the sci-fi channel.:techman:

Ten times? Wouldn't you rather watch things you've never seen before? Some episodes were unwatchable the first time round (this goes for all tv series). Not that I have recordings but I like to catch the odd replay on TV.

i've watched season 3 & 4 at least five times, though i skip some episodes (like 'Exile' and 'Observer Effect') to save time (plus i don't care for those eps so much).

It was good, but -- to each his own. Observer Effect wasn't the best of season 4, imo the Vulcan arc was and not because "Captain Tucker" was on Enterprise; I found that the most boring part. I enjoyed seeing Vulcan again and having it be Vulcan (as opposed to the crappy Arizona-like representation in Home), meeting Surak again and watching the Romulans and Vulcans nearly meet.

watching the andoran and vulcan fleets face off with enterprise in the middle was boring?i found watching archer bitch and moan his way through the desert the boring part

I enjoyed seeing both Vulcan and Andoria in the fourth season. Two planets at two extremes. Very interesting. I would have liked to have seen Tellar as well, and the home worlds of other aliens we have grown to know and love.
