And I don't see how, if you have absolutely everything associated with Superman except for the word "Superman" and tights and a cape - it's not simply Superman that you're doing.

I agree that they're doing a Superman story. I'm just disagreeing with your claim that there was no portrayal of his evolution into a hero. By now, he is Superman in all but name, but the past two seasons have been about how he got there.
