Re: Anthony Pond-Williams, and old friends

As per the unfilmed epilogue of "Angels in Manhattan", Amy and Rory adopted a boy, named him Anthony, and Anthony is currently in his mid-60s.

I think some variation of the epilogue needs to be filmed to properly and officially introduce the Anthony character into Who canon. 'Cause I'd like for Anthony to meet the Doctor, and for the two to become friends. Not necessarily have Anthony become a companion or anything. Just... a friend. Establish that, unlike most of his predecessors, this Doctor isn't content to leave his old friends and companions behind, and neglected. He wants to prove to himself that he's a good man? Good men don't neglect their friends, nor those who, like Anthony, allow him at least an indirect connection with old friends.

I'd love to occasionally see Capaldi's Doctor visit with other old friends as well. Not necessarily have them involved with the story, per se, but mostly little more than cameo appearances, to establish that the Doctor no longer runs from his past, nor neglects his past relationships.

Capaldi's Doctor does have a friendship of sorts with Kate Stuart, and of course the Paternoster gang, from the Smith years. At least the Kate Stuart relationship is a modern update to his work with her father.

Of course both Tennant and Smith interacted with Sarah Jane, both in the series itself and the spinoff Sarah Jane Adventures. Then of course there was the later episode with Jo Grant. The same episode also mentioned that the Tenth Doctor also visited many other companions before his regeneration. There's also of course Verity Newman from the End Of Time too.

There's a Doctor Who magazine comic where the Doctor reunites with Ian and Barbera, and Capaldi has stated in recent interviews he'd like to see the Doctor meet Susan again (Carole Ann Ford was also interested in this). Although there are some who thought the End Of Time time lady was her.

And of course there's River, although we'll have to wait and see if they have a story with her and Capaldi's Doctor. The River in Name of the Doctor was supposed to be the one from the Library I think, so technically there might be a way to bring her back without further confusing things.

Any story with River is confusing things...from the day we meet her. That's why we like her around.

It would actually be a nice change of pace for both of them if suddenly their lives proceeded in the right order, though I must say I don't necessarily like the idea of Capaldi's Doctor meeting River. I'm not sure how their chemistry would work.

I really loved the epilogue revealing Amy and Rory's adopted son. It was about the only thing I did like that was associated with the god awful mess that was "The Angels Take Manhattan." I sorely wish the epilogue had been filmed properly.

I love the idea posited here about bringing Anthony back.

The major problem with the epilogue is that essentially it’s Kathy Nightingale’s grandson turning up to see Sally Sparrow in Blink all over again!

Which was essentially that postman in Back to the Future 2 to tell Marty that Doc Brown was fine in 1885.

Something Kathryn Janeway was too stupid to think about doing when she was waylaid in LA circa 1996 in season 3 of Voyager.

Hell, even Bakula sent-mail to himself in Quantum Leap.

Um?

Do you have to pay extra, if you want the post office to wait 300 years before delivering a letter?
