Ray Wise's thoughts on "Who Watches the Watchers"

Hi all! I thought at least one of you might find this interesting so I thought I'd share.

I went to a convention and met Ray Wise last night, he was with a few other cast members of Twin Peaks sort of having a mini reunion. He was super nice and thrilled to be there. I checked on the counter in front of him of pictures he was signing and he didn't have anything from "Who Watches the Watchers" (understandable, he was only in one episode) and I asked him about it. I said he was in one of my favourite episodes of Star Trek, I'm not sure how well he remembers it, if it was just a job to him or if he enjoyed it. He said:

He doesn't know why he doesn't have anything from that episode for fans to sign, he was almost shocked when he realized it. "Who Watches the Watchers. I played a Mintakin, a proto-Vulcan!" He remembered the episode name, the plot, everything, he really lit up when talking of it and said that he had such a good experience being on that show, he's a huge fan and to this day, still has the ears. "I still have the Vulcan-like ears, too bad I don't have the Vulcan-like mind!" was a joke he made.

I just thought I'd share this moment since sometimes people wonder who's a fan and who just thinks of the time as simply a job.

Ray was also in VOY: Hope and Fear. I thought he was good in both episodes, but especially in "Watchers", as a true believer seeing the face of a god. Or even the Picard. His character really propels the action throughout the episode.

That's right, I forgot about that! (I don't know how many times I've seen each TNG episode, but I've only done one full run-through of Voyager)

I guess his returning to the franchise was all the proof we needed.

Him and the daughter give performances that really lift that episode up & make it engaging

I would've had to ask about playing the Devil on Reaper too

Great story, M'rek.

I was shocked recently when I realized that Pamela Adlon played the daughter. She's more recently made a career of playing saucy, outspoken women on Louie, Rake, etc.

And under her maiden name of Pamela Segall, she voiced Bobby Hill on King of the Hill.

She's been working steadily since she was a teenager in Grease 2, back in 1982
