Ray Barrett Has Died

Australis

Writer - Australis
Admiral
I've actually puit a longer post in TV&M, but thought I'd mention it here too.

Well known Australian actor Ray Barrett passed away this evening (Tuesday) of a brain haemorrhage. He was 82.

Us SF types best know him as the voice of Commander Shore in 'Stingray', and John Tracy and The \Hood in 'Thunderbirds'. snf a 1965 Dr Who serial, 'The Rescue'.

Had a big impact on my childhood, appeared in dozens of films and TV shows.

We lost a good 'un. :(

You're not wrong there mate. When I read the title thread I recognised the name, but couldn't quite place it. Now I feel like a little bit of my childhood has gone.:(

Stand by for action!

Man... that's sad. i read an interview with him once, where he was saying about when Stingray was airing on BBC 2 in the 90s (after Thunderbirds reruns were a huge hit and the Beeb started rerunning Stingray and Cap Scarlet) his grandkids loved Stingray and when tehy found out he was Commander Shore they got him to do the lines from the titles as they were walking home from school and got some weird looks.
