TSFS----------------the redheaded step-child.

Not one post and only 13 people even bothered to vote.

2.5 -- I rounded up in the poll.

I only watch TSFS if it's with TWOK and TVH. A good movie to watch but, like BTTF II, it's something I don't see as standing completely on its own.

The two things that bother me are leaving Uhura behind ("This is for boyz only!") and that Saavik has much less character than in TWOK.

I don't hold this as a demerit since it gives Kirk a personal reason to hate the Klingons but I wish they could've kept David around longer.

And, chronology arguments aside, TMP came out at the end of 1979 and TSFS in the middle of 1984... how could the public buy the Enterprise's day being over when, in a lot of their minds, it was only redesigned a few years earlier. The rationale for decommissioning the Enterprise should've been that it was too heavily damaged not that it was old and damaged. A slight difference but with the same effect and the Enterprise still seems older than the Excelsior anyway.

The plot itself is okay, but I find the acting and dialogue remarkably unwieldy and stiff. The "Have you lost all sense of reality" line is a perfect example of how poor some of the writing is - using such an awkward and unlikely line just to set up a mediocre quip.

At least it is not nearly as cartoonish as II or as pretentious as I, but it is inferior to the majority of Trek films IMO.

HIGHLY underrated! Five stars.

I agree, I also gave it five stars. TWOK is the only one I like more. It has great character bits, the entire cast has an important function in the movie, there are lots of funny lines, the action scenes are cool, the Enterprise gets a great "death" scene, it has some of Shatner's best acting... I could go on and on with reasons why I love this one. It's a classic amongst the Trek films.

Gave it a 4. It's hard to follow TWoK, and this was the perfect way to follow-up. If you read Jammer's review over on his website, I agree 100% with what he says.

3 stars it was the best of the odd numbered movies, but it was an average star trek movie. Here is my list of how they go in terms of best to last
1. The Wrath of Khan
2. The Voyage Home
3. The Undiscovered Country
4. First Contact
5. The Search for Spock
6. Generations
7. The Motion Picture (despite being the tos episode "the changeling"
8. Insurrection
9. The Final Frontier
10. Nemesis

Gave it 3 stars. It has its weak spots, but then again, it was conceived as a way to undo the ending of TWOK, so it would naturally suffer in comparison. It would have rocked even more if they had gotten who they originally wanted for Kruge, Edward James Olmos. Christopher Lloyd wasn't terrible, but Olmos would've really kicked ass as the Klingon Commander. -- RR

Rate TSFS on a scale of 1 to 5
5 being the best of trek movies--not against all movies in general.
This is a 3 and so obviously a sequel to the previous movie.

There are moments and character parts I've enjoyed in this, but I see a lot of less-than-inspired writing resulting in too many logic flaws.
