Rarity of "Wrath of Khan" collectibles without the "II"

How rare are collectibles from The Wrath of Khan that do not have the Roman numeral II? I remember reading somewhere that early prints of the film lacked the Roman numeral.

A friend of mine from another forum recently offered me a Wrath of Khan promotional flyer and Iron Man comic book that she was going to toss if they were not wanted by anyone.

I took her offer, and just this evening I picked them up from my mailbox.

The promotional flyer calls the film Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan. No "II" anywhere. It's in pretty good shape, too.

I don't think any of the prints had the II on them, that was added for home video, wasn't it? The pre-release stuff mostly had VENGEANCE OF KHAN as the title, but there was so much of it that I'd be surprised to find any of it collectible.

Oh yes they did! The first three or so weeks in the US had no "II" in the title, and then these prints were sent out to the international markets. While the US started to see titles with "II" in them, the movie then opened here in Australia with no "II". Then, about three weeks later, our club organised a return trip for a group booking and our prints were likewise marked with "II".

The Pocket novelization has no "II" on the cover either, but the Photostory and "Making of" did.

That was very early stuff, and a few toys (such as the UK Corgi ships).

I've got a button with Kirk looking deep in thought, with "Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan" emblazoned on the bottom. Got it for free at work one day.

While on the subject of TWOK -

Until this year, it was the only Trek movie I had not seen on the big screen.

I finally got to do so in March, when the Warner Theatre in downtown Morgantown had it for a one-week run.

In fact, they did screenings of the first 3 Trek films, starting with TMP on Feb. 29. The TMP print was in questionable condition; the colors frequently looked off and there were several spots where a few seconds of film were "jumped over".

The print for Wrath of Khan was in much better shape.

I didn't get to the screening of Search for Spock, because I had surgery on the first day (April 18) and basically spent the next week recuperating.
