Rare Photos: August 2010

Can you believe it's August of 2010? How come "the year 2000" still sounds so futuristic when it's 10 gods damn years ago? :vulcan:

In less than 2 years, the *real* Star Trek 12 will come out. 20 years ago, "The Simpsons" had this hilarious mock commercial for "Star Trek 12: So Very Tired" and I still laugh my ass off at it and... gods, now we're almost there!

Hope anyone going to the Vegas convention this next weekend has fun. I'm jealous of you all, even if I have met 95% of the guest list already at previous events. :p

Anywho, you're not here to read my random thoughts (or are you...?) you're here to view the yummy special rare photos!

My Favorites:
1st Row, Right: Jimmy Doohan has a laugh behind the scenes of Star Trek 4.

3rd Row, Right: Karl Urban poses for a publicity shot as Dr. McCoy from the nuTrek film.

4th Row, Center: Leonard Nimoy goofing off on location while filming the Original Series.

6th Row, Center: You've got the wonder if it's just coincedence Bob Wise is wearing a jacket that looks damn near identical to the costumes being worn by Shatner and the rest of the V'GER away team.

Several that I like, this time out, including the Forrest/Soval, the Montalban/Meyer and Nimoy behind-the-scenes B&Ws and the Pike and Saavik headshots (promo pics?) Interesting angle on the FC finale shot, too.

Something odd about the General Chang pic, though - the thumbnail looks pretty normal, but when you go to the full-sized image, there's a pronounced magenta tint to the whole thing.

Frontier, please check the publicity photo of General Chang. The thumbnail looks fine, but the larger photo is not color balanced. Thanks.

As usual, it is an excellent collection! I especially love the photo of Jimmy Doohan. He always had that wonderful smile.

Forrest & Soval!

That James Doohan poicture is very sweet, and I really like the Karl Urban shot. I always enjoy these photos.

I'm not seeing it; it looks fine to me.
Chalk one up for the Weird Side of Life. This time I downloaded it anyway. When I view the full size photo from the link, it is all reds and blues. When I downloaded it, it looks very normal.

Thanks for checking, Frontier. I am glad to have the photo. I am one of those rare Trek fans who loves that movie.

:confused:I wonder why I never noticed that red ladder lying around in "Star Trek: First Contact". :p Is Nimoy really "goofing off" in that 4th row picture? To me it just looks like he's blinking and frowning.

See and here I thought you'd be all over that delightfully mischievous picture of Will Riker. ;)

Frontier, thank you so much for posting these and all the hard work that goes into Trekcore. :techman:

Warmest Wishes,
Whoa Nellie

I mentioned the same thing farther upthread. I tried copying it so I could post it to show the purple version, but it changed to the normal version when I tried to resize. Here's a screencap of what I'm seeing.

Are there two layers to the image, by chance?

Nope. It's just a standard JPEG. Very weird.

It`s a pitty. There`s no picture from the Voyagercast (except the Borg queen).

Ironically, it's the later series that are the toughest to find material from. The further back in time you go, the more stuff is out there. More TOS material than TMPs, more TMPs than TNG, more TNG than DS9, more DS9 than VGR, More VGR than ENT, more ENT than Trek XI.

You'd think it would be the utter opposite, but alas... it's not! ;)
