Rao Vantika

I don't know if this has been brought up before but something occurred to me while at the store a few days ago. A brand of batteries called Rayovac reminded me of the villain from "The Passenger" named Rao Vantika and the names (at least to me) sound similar. Was the name Rao Vantika a play on words or at least a small joke. I haven't found anything to confirm my suspicions so I was wondering if anyone else could.

The first time I watched that episode, I thought the bad guy's name was Ray O. Vantika. I think it had to do with the cheesy over the top Shatner-style way in which his name was announced.

I'm not sure where the name came from, though.

I thought that's how it was spelled out as well but then again I used to pronounce conundrum and con-en-drum.

Throughout the whole episode, anytime someone said "Vantika," I immediately said, "He's quite the romantica."

I don't know why.
