Special mention to Ashes Of Eden, fantastic book and shatners best.

I don't see a lot of love for the numbered novels. I wonder if there's a preponderance of recent readers here?

Maybe I should start a "how long have you been reading Treklit" poll?

Well, there's a "what was your first Star Trek novel" thread ongoing, which covers similar ground.

How long have I been reading TrekLit? I read my first Trek book in 1971, but didn't start reading TrekLit regularly until 1973 or so. There were some classics in the old numbered books, but by the time TNG kicked off they were encumbered by too many constraints. Sure, there were still some standouts, but I find the freedom that the editors and writers have had in the last decade or so has really allowed the books to flourish.

1. Warpath
2. Worlds of DS9: The Dominion
3. Unity
4. Titan: Taking Wing
5. Avatar
6. World of DS9: Bajor
7. Q & A
8. Before Dishonor
9. Fearful Symmetry
10. Death in Winter

From memory (instead of from my database -- yes I have a database! Stop judging me!! :scream: ;) )

1. DS9: Millennium Trilogy
2. VAN: Reap the Whirlwind
3. VAN: Harbinger
4. VOY: Fire Ship
5. VOY: Echoes

9. TNG: A Time for War A Time For Peace
10. DS9: Warpath

And Honorable mentions that are every bit good enough to make the top ten had Mr. Mack not gone and monopolized half of the spots:

Articles of the Federation
TTN: Orion's Hounds
Engines of Destiny
DS9: Fallen Heroes
TNG: Section 31: Rogue
Destiny Trilogy

2. TNG: Vendetta

7. DS9: Cathedral
8. Federation

9. Titan: Orion's Hound
10. Titan: Sword of Damocles

There are a lot of books on other people's lists that I haven't read yet, mostly books from the last five years, since I had very little time, so mine list might change dramatically very soon.

I'm glad to see Sword Of Damocles on another list besides mine; that book totally knocked me on my ass, I loved it.

I remember the spoiler thread where a lot of posters cited the confusion of time and events as their reason of not liking the book, but I had no problem with it at all. I loved Jaza's journey in this book, as well as some of the other characters.

Yeah. Jaza never interested me at all until that book, when suddenly I was gripped by his every scene. Totally turned me around on that character and a couple others.

A very very very very humble thank you to Snaploud, captcalhoun, Thrawn, Semah, ialfan, donners22, JD, Nerys Ghemor, Sci, Claudia, Idoliside, chris32482, LightningStorm, Turbo, and Rosalind, who all, for reasons that no doubt are due to some kind of psychotic break, listed my work among their favorites. I am truly honored. *bows*

more of your works would be in the top 20-30 on my list...

I offer my humble appreciation to all of those who included my works in their lists. I'm particularly pleased to see The 34th Rule receiving so much love, lo these many years after its publication.

^ I'll chime in to thank everyone who has cited my work among their favorites. And I'll take this opportunity to shamelessly plug my upcoming original novel The Calling, coming in July from Pocket (and, for those who care about such things, edited by Marco Palmieri). :)

It is we who should be thanking you for providing us with several hours of reading entertainment.

*Ditto what I said to KRAD. Also, with your monopolization of my top 10, you better believe I'll be picking up The Calling. :techman:

i was bored in work this afternoon and compiled my top 50.

CLB, KRAD, Mack, Wardilmore, Leisner, MartinMangels, PAD and Geoff Trowbridge all feature.

can't wait.

re: compliments about SoD

WOW. Thanks, guys! Holy crap!

Here are my current favorites, in no particular order:

Vulcan's Heart

The Art Of The Impossible
<-- shall I repeat the story of how I read it? ;)

Q-Squared

Federation

Myriad Universes

The Good That Men Do

Kobayashi Maru

The War Of The Prophets
<-- yeah, I know, sounds weird, but still fascinating :D

Anything in the Mirror Universe - Dark Mirror, the recent trade paperbacks, etc.

The Invasion! series--for being a first

That one goes on my list to for the exact same reason, and this is it in no particular order.

Invasion!
Planet of Judgement (I wanna know more about those Irapina. Now that's an impressive and truly alien alien)
Memory Prime
The Phoenix Duology (Yes! Everyone else seems to hate it, but I quite like it. It's both surreal and a veeery interesting discussion about sexuality and power.)
The Final Reflection
The Covenant of the Crown (I have a crush on Kailyn and so much have wanted to see more of her.)
Avatar Duology (Reading it at the moment and loving it.)
The Good That Men Do

I'm sorry I don't have any love to give to all you writers who hang around here. Haven't read that many novels yet, but I am getting there. A bit slow, but getting there. :techman:

Although I do have to mention that there is one book that I absolute loathe that seems to end up on so many best-of-lists and that is Imzadi.
I admit that it is very well written, and I read through it in a very short time, but now I can't stand it. To me it makes Riker look like a genocidal maniac on an unprecedent scale and Deanna like a nymphomaniac. :wtf:

But since I like Phoenix what do I know... :guffaw:
