Discovery

Discovery has a very good chance of being overtaken by Picard, though. It will depend on S4 of DSC ends up and how S2 of PIC goes.
DSC is interesting to me because the recent seasons have trended in the wrong direction based on what I’m looking for from the franchise- it’s starting to feel like it’s gravitating away from what made the first seasons so unique and fascinating, and instead it’s just becoming yet another VOY/ENT/TNG clone. Even worse, they’ve replaced the setting I loved (mid 23rd century) and lost a number of the characters I really loved (Tyler, Phillipa, Tilly, etc). This season has been completely “fine,” which means it is not uneven nor objectionable, but it also isn’t interesting or exciting. It’s premise and tone have just changed so much. If DSC starts becoming Safe Trek, it will lose my interest by quickly.
PIC has everything I want from a modern Trek series. It is very different from what’s come before. It’s not afraid to take risks. I love how it very much dismantled the character traits of Jean-Luc Picard and called him out for being the arrogant self-righteous ass he could be. I also like that it’s a bit of the “anti-TNG” in that it is about broken and abandoned people, and not perfect paragons of virtue. As long as PIC hasn’t over-corrected like DSC seems to have, I may squeeze into the top spot.
PRO surprises me. I’m not a fan of animation. I’m not a fan of Janeway. I’m not a fan of “Star Trek for kiddos.” Despite all that, this is a fun little show. My whole family watches it together and we all really like it. I’m really interested to see how it pans out this first season
LD is my least favorite. I don’t like animation as a general rule. I also definitely didn’t want a VOY/ENT/TNG clone (see comments above) and that is certainly what this is, except it’s crammed into 24 min and filled with headache-inducing pacing and dialogue. The main character is pretty awful, quite frankly. It’s massively uneven, with some absolutely brilliant episodes, and others that are so embarrassing and unpleasant that I can barely get through them.
