Random, possibly noncanon, Who musings...

Yeah, there's always been the rumor that Lee didn't like Doctor Who at all, and hence declined any guest star roles. Don't know how much truth there is to that.
Well, apparently Big Finish tried to get Christopher Lee to play Rassilon in Zagreus and he sent them an earful about what utter trash he thought Doctor Who was. Not a fan, apparently.

I know Lee declined the role of Rassilon for Zagreus and the way I heard it his agent just said Lee didn't like Doctor Who much. I did hear, however, that he have his pal Peter Cushing stick for doing the Doctor Who films in the 60s.

There's only one blessed Blessed. He can't be confused for anyone else and vice versa.

Not always true. When he was in Henry V, I kept thinking he was John Rhys-Davies for some reason. They're both big, broad, bearded men with big, booming voices.
Blessed is in an episode of Blake's 7, and there's another episode with a similar character that had me thinking it was a Blessed Episode, until I got a real close look.

So awhile back I built a TARDIS in my backyard. The problem is, if you're the kind of person who builds a TARDIS exterior...well there's only so much you can do at that point. Mine is full of old paint cans, boxes, and stuff like that. There are some minor tweaks I can make to it to amuse myself. ...

But what I really want to do is build a TARDIS interior. I've got the electronic bits and bobs laying about. (I really wish I still had the red $9.99 Radio Shack phone I had for my college dorm room, in the days before the WorldWide Web, but that went to St. Vincent's over a decade ago.)

Problem is, I don't have the time or the space for this project. The reason I've got a TARDIS is because I needed storage space while I was renovating my garage. And with basic maintenance like caulking and painting to do, I really couldn't justify building a TARDIS interior even if I did have a place to build it.

So it just sits in the back of my brain and picks at me. I need to learn Google Sketchup so I can try to exorcise it that way. But there's the pesky "time" problem. And truth be told, being able to look at it realized in more than pencil sketches would more likely exacerbate the obsession.

Don't ever do a google image search then. You will find tons of people who did build one and that might stress you out. :(

Oh, you have no idea. The reason I'm posting this here is because I'm a member of TardisBuilders.com and I see other people's builds all the time, but the board is pretty heavily moderated so they don't want to see me rambling on about how I want to build a control room. They want to see it.

Well. Build one that fits inside your TARDIS? A scale model, or several scake models for each era?

[like] Sadly, my TARDIS is for storing junk. It is so full of boxes and stuff that the door barely opens (sidebar: Actual police boxes, the door does open outward. On the downside, a ne'er-do-well could trap you by putting something against the door, but the inward opening door costs me almost 25% storage space. And actual police boxes had aggressively sloped floors for drainage, so an inward opening door wouldn't have worked.) But when I first built it, I did pick up a package of cheap styrofoam plates and glued them on the inside walls. The effect was pretty neat--until they became a magnet for mold and rot. Besides, not that I cut my windows all the way through (at first they were just painted primer grey plywood with frosted plexi glued over them) it's hard to do a convincing interior. If anything, I think I'll do a Google Sketchup interior. :)

I did my own version in Sketchup

Fairly early in the Pertwee run right now. Just finished up the Autons story with the Master and Jo Grant and it gets quite clunky towards the end. The whole The Master has won after almost 3 hours and in the last 2 minutes the Doctor talks him out of his successful plan with a 10 second conversation. But more importantly, the Brigadier is right. If The Doctor had just stayed out of the way the Brigadier would have had his RAF airstrike that took out the Autons (and IIRC, the Nestene consciousness thing was in the bus, not with The Master). As incompetent as the story sometimes requires the Brigadier to seem, he's often pretty on top of things. Which got me to thinking...

You know how nuWho spun off Torchwood about a secret UK organization to be on top of weird happenings? You know how they cast a lot of the actors of the old characters for the 50th anniversary docu-drama?

I think it would be cool to see a Brigadier and UNIT series. Maybe start it with the Trougton Yeti story as the pilot. Then, in the first season, show how UNIT gets formed and staffed out, leading up to the events from "Spearhead from Space." And then do basically all the Pertwee stories, only from the Brigadier's perspective with The Doctor as the supporting character. You could even do some stories without The Doctor and go all the way up to Seeds of Doom and such and then have the show go on without The Doctor and eventually see how UNIT becomes the UNIT we see in the nuWho series.

Yeah, probably not an ongoing UNIT series, but a well-written mini-series could be quite interesting.

Millions of years ago, the Earth was visited by the Cocoas, whose ship crashed and their genetic banks turned to powder. The survivors slept, awakening in the 1960s, discovered that the human race not only mixes those who were to be their future in scorching hot water but consumes them as well.

And, they discover, anyone who drinks this mixture can be controlled...

Chocolate, actually. Coffee comes from coffee beans, from the coffea plant.

My bad . But still that would be awesome, aliens who are cocoa and they feel very insulted that we make chocolate

Doctor: Oh don't be ridiculous. Pluto isn't a planet any more.
Companion: Would you rather it be the egg of a giant space chicken?
Doctor: What a wonderful planet!

And all the king's horses and all the kings men couldn't put the moon back together again.

But the horses wanted another try at it.
