RAMBO 5 finally underway

I've posted a link to an article that contains an actual voicemail message from Sly saying it is NOT Universal Soldier...it is an inhuman monster.

Do people read threads?

Michael Cera?

Why the Fuck would Michael Cera be in a Rambo movie. That little twerp probably can't even handle his third leg, let alone a machine gun! :klingon:

So far, this 'creature idea' does not enthuse me.

Sly's directing and writing it so it's not a good sign.

Just when he was regaining respectability again, he makes another one of his legendarily stupid decisions and has Rambo go sci-fi. Even worse, he resurrects one of the most overused cliches in recent memory...the "evil government/evil corporation" storyline.

I've read the novel, and it's pretty good. It could make an amazing film.

I just don't know why it needs to be Rambo. Couldn't Sly just play the character in the novel? Maybe he's not convinced of any renewed box office clout yet, and feels he needs the Rambo name to get butts in seats?

I'll have to add that one to my list.

I had the same thought. I'm a bit torn on this one, actually. While I'm not wild about pitting Rambo against a scifi monster, I do like the idea of putting him in a situation that genuinely terrifies him. I suppose that there isn't much in nature that would do that.

Rambo 5 is still a good 2 years away I'd think. But in the meantime where's the fuck that Expendables teaser we are all waiting for?

"There's an asteroid the size of Alaska heading straight for earth!"
"Get me John Rambo."

"We've discovered that alien life existed on Mars a hundred million years ago!"
"Get me John Rambo."

"All the prisoners have escaped from Arkham Asylum!"
"Get me John Rambo."

"A giant gorilla is climbing the Empire State Building!"
"Get me John Rambo."

"Who's going to coach the little league team now?"
"Get me John Rambo."

"It's official -- the teachers union has gone on strike!"
"Get me John Rambo."

"The dow just collapsed!"
"Get me John Rambo."

I like the idea of him killing druggies along the USA/Mexico border. I think would be very kick ass.

That seems to be the consensus. That or that he won't get studio backing unless he attaches one of his 'brand-names' to the adaptation.

You'd think he'd wait and see how The Expendables went, then if it's a hit, he could argue that he can have hit without the safety of Rocky or Rambo in the title.

I'm not a big Rambo fan by any means, but this does sound like a really bad idea for the series and a total leap into a different genre. Like the rumours about doing Die Hard 4 on the space shuttle or having Jack Bauer face aliens ...
