Rainn Wilson should be in Star Trek in some capacity.

Mr. Scott

Commander
Howdy!

I saw the second episode of the new (6th) season of The Office last night. It's an OK show. I mostly watch it for Rainn Wilson, who plays the insane Dwight Schrute on the show. His scream last night was classic.

I think that he would make an interesting bad guy for a movie, or an eccentric character. A Vorta perhaps? He was in "Galaxy Quest" in a minor role as one of the aliens.

I think he's be a good fit, anyone agree?

Rainn who ?

No seriously, the name doesn't ring any bells at all.
And after googling and imdbing, I don't remember seeing him in anything.

I like him as Dwight, but I think he is going to be one of those actors that will never break out from that character. Think Michael Richards as Kramer.

^ I agree. It'd be as if Dwight Schrute won a walk-on role in Star Trek.

I've only ever seen him on Six Feet Under, which coincidentally co-starred James Cromwell.

I'd love to see him branch out (as is my understanding, he's just as awkward on The Office as he was on SFU), but I don't know if Trek is the proper forum for him to do so. Maybe a Law & Order episode as a serial killer or something? An arc on True Blood?

The Office is an "Ok" show? Please tell me you're kidding. The Office is phenomenal. And, yes it would be awesome if Rainn Wilson was in Star Trek 2.

I respect your opinion... But friend, if you want to see him branch out, do yourself a favor and try to catch a few episodes of The Office. Rainn is stellar and is nothing like his character on Six Feet Under. (And he did do an episode of Law&Order:Special Victims Unit)

Well he was the voice of the alien "Galaxar" in Monsters vs. Aliens... could be funny as a Ferengi or some other purely "played for laughs" character. A young nuTrek Harry Mudd?

Mudd: Dammit, Jim! Why'd you put my women in jello? This is the third time today!
Kirk: What makes you think I did it?
Mudd: You're the only one eating jello...and you're naked with them!

"Fact. Black bears can defeat Klingons."

:borg: I think you mean Star Trek 12 :borg:

Bugger, there's something I never thought about. The idiots who run it now are probably going to call it Star Trek 2. All the worse if they've got a lazy Khan rehash.

He would be fun in the right role.

One stable of TOS is the beauracratic ambassador/administrator/official that has some legal loophole to override Kirk's authority, much to his annoyance.

Kirk: We're going to stay to rescue my crew.
Official: No we're not. We need to get me to my important diplomatic function.
Kirk: I have the authority to stay here for 2 hours.
Official: You have ONLY those 2 hours, and no more. My chat with fellow diplomats about mining assignment is too important to the Federation.

Rainn Wilson could play such an official brilliantly.
