It is the most extreme and certainly the most literal example of microclimate: it is, at this moment, raining in my kitchen.
Short little story: I noticed my one year old son walking along the cabinets, following me around while I was making breakfast. He was wearing these long sweat pants he got for his birthday a week ago; they were dry when I put them on him. I happen to look down after a minute or so and notice the bottom of his pants were moist. I just assumed he stepped in something, but there was no water on the floor. So I went to pick him up, and that's when I felt lt: like pins and needles when your leg falls asleep (that's what I thought it was at first) but as I stood there a while this little layer of moisture formed until both of my feet were wet. I checked the whole kitchen: no leaks, no pipes, nothing from the ceiling. Construction paper test with a pair of cake levels and black paper tells me the water droplets are forming about two and a half inches above the floor, but no higher than that.
Or is there another explanation for this? I didn't think microclimates could form in that small a space, I assumed they required huge volumes like football stadiums and crap like that.
