R.I.P. Sir Christopher Lee

RIP, Christopher Lee. :(

He truly had an amazing screen presence and a wonderful career. The success and legendary status of Hammer films owe much to his talent.

He was also a real-life Pulp hero during the war, being involved in some pretty adventurous Intelligence work in North Africa and Europe.

The actor has died at age 93.

He will go down in history for his many memorable roles.

"Sir Christopher traced his lineage to Charlemagne, the first Holy Roman Emperor... His distant cousin, Ian Fleming"

That I did not know about him--explains his height.

In some other universe (I hope) the Lord of the Rings came out earlier--with him as Gandalf. He deserved a heroic role.

The last Grand Old Man of Hammer is gone.
Come on Chris....quit putting us on...

Sir Ian McKellen wrote a touching article about him on Facebook. Mr. Lee was quite enthusiastic about filming Lord of the Rings and said he'd always thought he should play Gandalf. He always read LotR every year and even quoted passages in some Middle-earth language.

Edit:

Sorry, I didn't see the thread in GTVM when I first posted this.

Or Star Wars I, with him as Qui-Gon Jiin.

Or somehow in Star Wars IV, with him as Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Sure, he would've died, but that just seems to be the a job hazard for Jedi.

Hard to believe he's dead. Was it that long ago when Episode II and III were still new, or was he already pushing past 80?

These were my first intros to him

Both Count Dooku & Governor Tarkin

RIP

(he would've been 80/81 and 83/84 around the time of the star wars prequels)

Same here. I spent many late school nights waiting for Mom to get home from work. I would put my siblings to bed, then turn on CBS at 11:30 pm to watch him in Hammer films.

Thank you, Sir Christopher Lee and Rest in Peace. :techman:
