Well, this is more out of neccessity than anything. For some time now, TrekBBS has had an issue with 'destructive' advertising on the site. I have been hit with malware and viruses a couple of times now - all of which traced back to the advertising on TrekBBS.

Due to this site being such a haven for such things, (a 'red flag' site), I'm not going to be returning anymore. I'm not quitting the hobby, but I just value my computer and time too much to put up with the crap from here, as well as the 'well, pay us and we won't zorch your machine, really!' attitude the staff seems to have.

My work and galleries, etc, will remain, but will just be supported primarily from my home site at www.pixelsagas.com .

I hope everyone understands why I've made this decision.

Get Firefox, then go to their Add-ons and install Ad-Block Plus. Haven't had a single problem with viruses ors anything like that here or at any other site.

Being a computer technician, I fully understand your point of view Vance. That said, in some cases the site isn't to blame for the malware in the ads. My wifes machine got blitzed by malware in the ads on her favorite fan fiction site, and it required a total reformat and reinstall to close the holes that a little beast called virtumonde opened up. The site owners and staff weren't even aware of the problem till I contacted them and then they made every effort to fix the problem. I've found that running Peerguardian2 with fully updated ad and spyware blocklists is very effective at keeping the malware out.
I must say you'll be missed around here, but I will be visiting your site religiously, and I dare say many others will be too. Take care man and always remember " It's Green".

Sorry to see you go, Vance - you've been a great contributor around here.

Closing thread.
