Quinto: was it THIS board?

You're right. What I should have said was acting roles outside of trek. I know he did a bit of television and still does from time to time. I pay pretty close attention to times when crew members appear in other shows. From a family standpoint I know also that many members of the acting community that is the breadth of trek got to try there hands at other jobs during their tenure there.

It is different though when you take on an iconic role such as Quinto has done. As comparisons will be made even if they really shouldn't be. In this case even as both were in the same movie it's even harder to avoid. I found Quinto's Spock a bit more simple then Nimoy's as it should have been. We did see Spock before Kirk in the series though - Despite NBC's arrangement to have Kirk commanding prior to Pike. As The Cage is the true pilot of the TOS series. So as many have mentioned it's that Spock I was thinking as I watched Quinto.

In the movie though the Elder Spock 'no fault of Nimoy mind you' has become a matchmaker. Depriving the fans of the moment where both Kirk and Spock implicitly trust each other. That is not based on any other evidence they believe what each other is telling them. That fast tracking to their relationship kind of messed things up for me. Not a deal breaker mind you as I still enjoyed the movie very much. Just that they should have found a better way besides time travel to bring that about.

Trekbbs and trekmovie.com's comment area's are what alot of of the studio folks read these days.

that was really the biggest problem I had with the movie. it was too much, too often. yes, we know, you're good friends, brothers even. but there's really no need to hit us over our heads with it umpteen times.

as for Nimoy, I daresay he's had a good career, all things considered. A Woman called Golda, Marco Polo and Vincent come to mind, not to mention Baffled -- a guilty pleasure of mine for years.

$2.00 the first download. $45.00 each additional download, plus the souls of each of your firstborn.

what does that matter if you get to retire to a tropical island with a helipad to bring you fresh um, fruit?

I'm broke but you can borrow the firstborn - good luck getting him to do work!

What would ZACHARY do in that situation...

I wonder.

Would he...SHOUT?

On the DVD, Qinto says that the idea of him taking the iconic role of Spock was suggested in an internet message board he read. Was it this one?

That was me! ME! :rommie:

...seriously I did mention here that "hey there's this guy from 24 who looks just like a young Leonard Nimoy and if they ever thought about recasting TOS..." This was before there was any inkling of recasting TOS. At the time, I was thinking, "yeah right." :rommie:

Okay now I'm a little freaked out. :wtf:

I wish Zach would come back and visit at least once. What's the harm?

Let's see if we can flush him out from his cover with insults.

We know you're reading this, Zach. Your taste in clothing is horrible. Pink and orange plaid, what were you thinking?

Plus I feel sorry for the Heroes writers that their brilliant scripts are being ruined by your utter lack of acting talent.

(If that doesn't work, nothing will.) :rommie:
