I am helping a friend fix his mac after he accidentally deleted the Quicktime file out of the applications folder. After attempting a straight reinstall the installer fails and quicktime just doesn't install. I've attempted to track down all quicktime components in the Library, System/Library, Preferences, Caches, and a couple of other locations.
However after emptying the trash, restarting and running the installer again it says a newer version of quicktime is still installed. Any ideas?
Macbook Pro 17" non-Unibody, running 10.5.8 Leopard.
