Quick question

How do you pronounce Si Cwan??? It's a silly question I know but it really bothers me for reasons I cannot explain. Any help would be appreciated.

My pronunciation has always been the same as lvsxy808's, to wit, see kwan. But I believe Peter David has said that you can pronounce it however you want. That's the joy of prose-only series.

On the other hand, I also pronounced Lt. Gleau's name as "Glew" and not "Glow," and "Briker" with a hard "i," two instances of me completely annihilating punny names.

Uhh, what do you mean by "hard 'i'"? Consonants like C and G have soft and hard forms; vowels have long and short forms. "Brikar" should presumably be pronounced with a short I, like "brick are." Are you saying you rhyme it with "Riker"?

I've always "heard" it as "See Swan," as in "C. Swan," as in, Curt Swan, famed Superman artist.

Well I've always pronounced it as Sci Won, I figure I'm the minority in that pronunciation as well. Thanx for the input guys.

I'm surprised that so many people see "Si" and pronounce it like "sigh" instead of "see." I guess none of you took high-school Spanish.

Same here... Hispanic, and I took Spanish in high school (despite being fluent) to learn more about the "culture."

That's who PAD was paying tribute to, isn't it? There must have been a way to spell it that would lead people who don't know who Curt Swan is to pronounce Si Cwan like that, but "Cwan" is not that way. But then, PAD thought all his readers would read Pheytus as having a sound like key rather than grey or ley or obey.

I alrways read it as See Cwan. It's easier to read than Sci Swan.
