Hi I just have a quick question. With all the new rumors of a star trek tv seres being made I was wondering if there was any new information on he star trek tv series being developed by David Foster? The last time I heard he was talking to CBS and he said it looked positive. If anyones heard anything please comment I really want a new star trek tv series that is not animated and and is in the prime universe.

Considering Bob Orci is talking about Bad Robot doing an animated or live action series pending the success of Star Trek XII, outlook not so good for Foster.

I don't know where you heard that. Foster is a minor producer with virtually no credits to his name, and he made a public statement about a year ago about how he was trying to schedule a pitch with CBS, but I've never heard any indication that he actually got a meeting. There haven't actually been any new reports about it since then.

So there's nothing here. It's just some guy on the periphery of the entertainment industry who tried to increase his nigh-nonexistent chances of getting to pitch his Trek idea by announcing it on the Internet and trying to drum up grassroots support.

When Star Trek gets back on TV, it will be because someone with industry clout championed it - Orci, JJ Abrams, Bryan Fuller, Seth McFarlane, someone like that. The biggest obstacle now is that nobody is pushing Star Trek who Les Moonves would listen to, and he's not going to listen to some nobody.

Sci fi is pretty far outside what CBS usually does, except on the CW, and nobody wants that, do we? So it's going to take some extraordinary effort to get CBS to bother with Star Trek at all.

And it's also probably vital that the next movie be a big success like the last, which would be an ideal environment in which to make a pitch for a series scheduled to coincide with the third movie, to take maximum advantage of the movie publicity.

The answer has pretty much been answered but I'm moving this to the Future of Trek subforum regardless.
