Question for UK viewers regarding when DW is shown

I have to add that it makes me feel really old when people think 6pm is too early for the series given that it was on before 5.30 all through my childhood...

Yes youngsters, even the dark and violent Hinchliffe years were shown in what could arguably be called late afternoon.

I know how u feel.........17.30 was the usual time for Dr who way back in the 70 on a Saturday, i think if i remember correctly it moved to Monday nights and started the whole 19.00 showing with Davidson's tenure.

17.00 the basil brush show/Jim'll fix it.
17.25 Dr who.
18:00 The Generation game.
19:00 Opportunity Knocks.
20:00 Two Ronnie's/Val Doonican show/Mike yarwood.
21.00 Starsky and Hutch/Kojak.

Then over to BBC2 for the double bill of horror....Dracula,Frankenstein,Wolfman......Then TV transmission over for the day....."Good night from everybody here at BBC2"...(cue high pitch sound).

Brilliant times.

Ah, fantastic. I still have an abiding memory of watching Ask the Family before Blakes 7 would start. Kids don't know they're born these days

[Robert Robinson] "Ahhhh, would that it were, would that it were! This question is for fathers and eldest sons only! How many actors portrayed Travis, and what were their names? Ahhhh...." [/Robert Robinson]

^^^Its almost like he was here in the topic....."Ahhh where it so".

:guffaw:

I don't even know the show but that just sounds hilarious. I'm not in the UK and don't really have a horse in this race but I don't mind the Saturday late afternoon timeslot of Doctor Who. To me, watching sci-fi on TV is invariably linked to Saturday afternoons because that was when Star Trek in all its incarnations was shown on German TV (for the most part). DS9 in its first run here was shown on 3 or 4 pm. Usually, two Trek shows were shown and before that you'd often get pretty bad 'reality' tv. I'd rather have had a smug quiz show. ;)

LMAO! :guffaw: That would be so funny extended out to a skit to play at a con. Do they even do that any more? Or is it all queuing for autographs still these days? ;)
