Question for the ST Authors: Is there a ST Style Guide?

Weird. Any particular reason that they changed it from PADD?

Agreed!

So are the preferred spellings currently "Deep Space 9" and "Seven of Nine"? I'd assume that those would be the easier forms to trademark. Sorry if these are obvious questions, but I haven't read any DS9 or VOY novels in forever, so I really don't know.
I'm not 100% sure, but that's the way I remember seeing them in the recent books.

PADD is now apparently a DISCO era thing per "Such Sweet Sorrow part two."

Interesting. I missed that.

As far as I know, we're still using data slates in the TOS novels, though. Just reviewed the copyedited ms. for my next one a few weeks ago and the "data slates" were still intact.

NUMBER ONE: I'll fix the door onsite.

ADM. CORNWELL: Get me a PADD. Number One, I'm with you. We'll have to disarm simultaneously. (To Lt. Nickola) Figure out what kind of weapon we're dealing with and send me a schematic.

It's a single line of dialogue, easily missed. The usage may never filter down to the novel lines, although in 1983 and 1984, Diane Duane did refer to Scotty's "computer-link pad" in The Wounded Sky and "datapads" in My Enemy, My Ally, apparently in reference to the electronic clipboards back when those stories were set pre-TMP.

That's the kind of thing I used to flag when I was giving notes on season-one episodes. The show's writers didn't always take my notes to heart, however.

It won't surprise me if it gets retconned down the line that all such gadgets, however depicted by the prop designers of each series, get treated as PADDs or PADD-equivalent. I don't expect to even consider complaining if that happens.

They did say 'the Voyager' a few times in Season 1, but it was dropped rather quickly after that.

(note this search also includes annotations, not just dialogue)
http://scriptsearch.dxdy.name/?page=results&query=({series|voy,}) and ({line|The Voyager,})

Some aliens (and the real Barclay once) would occasionally referred to her as 'The Voyager' in later episodes, but the ship's crew stopped.

Hi, any reason why that link to scriptsearch os no longer working? I have tried accessing the scriptsearch link for weeks and it appears to have stopped functioning. Any ideas who to reach out to?

I haven't been able to access the site in a few weeks either.
