Question for Star Trek Authors

Jim Johnson said:
In reading tie-in fiction, one of the things that bugs me the most is when the characters don't 'sound' like the characters on the show. So I try to not do that in my writing. :)

I have to agree with you there Jim. There's nothing more distracting than the characters not sounding like they do on the show. It really spoils a book for me because you constantly find yourself thinking..."they wouldn't say that or say it that way!". On the other side it makes it so enjoyable when the voicing is right because then you feel like you're watching a Star Trek episode or movie in your mind.

Shouldn't authors get special dispensation or something. You should have the actors at your beck and call to act out the scenes for you.
If I had Jeri Ryan at my beck and call, it wouldn't be to act out Voyager scenes. Know what I mean? Eh? Know what I mean? Nudge, nudge?

Nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat, eh?

I've got the movies on 2-disc DVD, TNG and seasons 1-5 of DS9 (so far) on slimline DVD, and everything else still on VHS

Except for TAS, which I haven't got at all, and haven't even seen in about 20 years...

Well, duh.

...I mean, obviously, you'd have acting out scenes from Boston Public or Shark. :p
