Question for Marco and Co.

Posted by Marco Palmieri:
I've been thinking of retitling the ST project Apocrypha. Opinions?
I thought that's what Strange New Worlds was...*hides under my desk giggling*

Nah, kidding. You could title it For The Want Of.

Hey.
SNW is canon.

[Ducking phasers, exits stage right in haste.]

I hope to be able to announce something about it by year's end.
28 days and counting
Not every hope pans out.

c'est le bummer.

I was really looking forward to that.

You can continue to look forward to it. Just because an announcement is unlikely to be ready by year's end, doesn't mean I won't eventually make one.

I've been looking forward to it since Split Infinities first appeared on psiphi.org's "Forthcoming Titles" list way back when, and will absolutely continue to do so.

Meanwhile, in another reality, I've given up all hope... :p

^And yet, in another reality, the book has already come out and we've already read it many times. ;)

Yeah, well, you didn't do a good job of it, did you? 'Cause in the reality where I've read it, it was absolutely terrible! ;)

^I guess my work is done, then. Since apparently, somewhere, somehow, I already did it. :D

I hate it when I get on the wrong reality path.

You could combine all the titles to something like Split Ripples on a Reflecting Alternative Mirror in Infinity :p

oo-oo! yes! that would be PERFECT!!!

Well in that universe Marco is king and critics are killed on sight...good thing you only have your summer home there eh? ;)

^

I could get you back if you make it worth my while.

Also I'll need a replacement for this danged flux capacitor.

Oh, man, it all makes sense now! It isn't me that's screwed up, it's this world I'm living in!
That really should have been obvious. After all:

"If there's nothing wrong with me, maybe there's something wrong with the universe."

Every time I see this thread I think of this quote, not only because it is still on the back burner, but because of the premise as well.

"For all sad words of tongue and pen, the saddest are these, 'It might have been.'"

^That works until you imagine an interesting, yet dystopian future that "might have been." E.g. riker with the long beard on a Enterprise falling apart around him due to the failure at Wolf 359. I don't think avoiding that future would be considered sad. ;)

I guess it could still work as an epigram for the book, but not a title. By the way, does anyone know who coined this saying? I know it was in a New Frontier book, but I don't think it is a Peter David original.
