question about the Wii

Rÿcher

Fleet Captain
I wasn't too clear about this while reading the instructions but it made reference to being able to download older games from the GameCube or something to play them on your Wii.

Can I download them onto my computer and then transfer the files to my SD card and have the Will read it from the card or do I have to have the Wii connected to the internet?

Also if you happen to know of any shooter games out there for the Wii that would allow me to utilize the gun, I'd appreciate any recommendations.

No. The Wii is backwards compatible with Gamecube disks. There is also the virutal console that has games for download from the other previous systems. They must be downloaded through the Wii Shop Channel on the Wii. There is no other way.

As for a good shooter for the Wii Zapper, I would reccomend Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles.

I don't know if RE4 is compatible with the Zapper, but I recommend it anyway.

I believe Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 is rather well regarded for its controls and robust (by Wii standards) online multiplayer capabilities.

Well, every Wii game is "compatible" with the Zapper (It's just a plastic shell), it's just a question of whether or not it's practical to use it.

Ya, I could try playing Mario Galaxy with the Wii Wheel, but I doubt it'd work out too well.

The marketroid who came up with the name "Zapper" should receive a gold star. Marketing a gun attachment without compromising the family-friendly image of the console couldn't have been the easiest task in the world.

Well technically there are other ways to download VC and Wiiware games (including ones that aren't on the Wii Shop service) but it's just not legal to do it any other way. :techman:

Not that I advocate doing that thought, I feel that Nintendo and the other publishers and developers on the Wii Shop channel deserve their cut (and actually I have 8000 points in my account right now, thanks to a $15 point card clearance at my local Walmart a few months back). I actually just downloaded Donkey Kong Country 3 and a Wild West light gun shooter Wiiware game a few days ago.
