Question about Star Trek: Destiny: Gods of Night

Okay, so I am way behind in my Star Trek reading, but am putting Star Trek books on my Christmas List. And before you start laughing, yes even though I am an adult my mother still requires for me to provide her with a Christmas List. Anyways, I just finished reading Before Dishonor and am about to start Sword of Damocles. Afterwards I already have the three Terok Nor books to read. I was looking at the upcoming publications and saw the book Star Trek: Destiny: Gods of Night. The cover of the book confuses me as I see Ezri from DS9, Hoshi of Enterprise, and Stratos of TOS. Is this supposed to be another alternate universe story (I know a lot of those were coming out this year)? Or is this just a book mixing all of the five series', but still in the normal universe? I am just trying to figure out if I want this book.... But don't give me too much detail- I don't want any spoilers that will ruin any of the books I haven't read yet. No me gustan spoilers!!!! :scream: I am too afraid to read the summary of the book on-line!

Well, as spoiler-free as possible then..

Destiny is not an alternate universe story. Well, at least, I don't think so. David Mack could surprise us all in a last minute twist but somehow, I doubt it.

The novels span the TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT, NF and so on universe of characters. David has said that it does not deal with TOS that much.

And that's not Hoshi on the cover of book one. I could tell you who it is but you said spoiler-free so I won't. It's only a minor spoiler in any case.

I'm sure someone professional will be around to answer your questions anyway.

To give you something quick-

1) Hoshi isn't in the story. That is Captain Hernandez of the NX-02 Columbia

2) Stratos isn't in the story. The city is, well... you don't want spoilers

3) The story is in the 'mainline' Trek universe. No alterverse here

4) There are several interweaving storylines in Destiny, and they all tighten the deeper into the story you get

5) Destiny is awesome. I know. Order early to prevent disappointment later

6) More on "Gods of Night" (with some mild spoilers) will be coming soon to a website near you (specifically at TrekMovie.com... probably in the next few days, possibly as early as tomorrow... depending on how many breaking news stories Willian Shatner can generate this week...) If you should not wish to read the review that includes mild spoilers, well... then just review number 5 above, and act accordingly... at once.

Hope this helps.

^ What they said. Also, keep in mind that Gods of Night is the first book of a trilogy; all three books will be out in time for Christmas. So if you ask for book one, make sure to ask for books two and three -- Mere Mortals and Lost Souls.
