I went to the local court and asked them to look me up to see if there was anything outstanding.. they didn't see me for anything. Apparently he either never filed my ticket or won't file it!

Time for a beer!

You might have matched the description for another car and he realized he screwed up and was trying to save face.

I also live in Texas, and have had a few stops in my life. I am also a CDL holder. My advice is: if/when you get the hard copy of the ticket, READ IT CAREFULLY AND IN GREAT DETAIL! Any discrepancy no matter how small can be enough to get it dismissed. My last stop he had me dead to rights, but put the wrong color for my car. I convinced the ADA that it was not worth the trouble of everyone's time for me to get a lawyer who would eat up time and taxpayer dollars and inevitably win. Be nice, and try to make it sound like you are trying to be helpful.
