Depends. I say "seventeen-oh-one" in most casual conversation. But I made a list a while back of contemporary ships for writing purposes, and while putting down the Ent-E, I said "one-seven-zero-one" (what, you don't talk to yourself?).

seventeen oh one.

I also say the Defiant is seventeen sixty-four and the Exeter is sixteen forty-seven (if I read it correctly).

One-seven-zero-one
Same here.

Where does this "oh" fit into the numerical values system?
It fits in the same place as the "oh" in "Boeing 707" or the "oh" in "007" or the "oh" in "08:00" or the "ought/aught" in ".30-06" do.

Frakkin' A... er Frakkin' Oh!:rommie:
en-see-see one-seven-oh-one
Precisely, the same as I do.:techman:

Seventeen oh one is the only way to say it.

Oh, wait, I forgot where I'm at. Trek BBS has certain rules which must be adhered to. Zero seventeen oh one.

I use them both interchangably - either one seven zero one or seventeen oh one.

For the other Trek ships it's always each individual number, so seven four two zero five or seven four six five six.

Although I wonder why we all seem to use 'zero' when saying each number individually, however 'oh' when saying seventeen as one number.

Why am I even thinking about this? :)

Generally, I say "one-seven-oh-one."

Which is interesting because in most other places, I'd say "zero" instead of "oh" for the number 0, particularly since my wife is quite adamant that "oh" is incorrect. :)

Generally say one-seven-zero-one, since I always try to distinguish '0' from 'o' when reciting any string of numbers and letters, but I probably slip into 'oh' sometimes.

But who are we to trust the ravings of PROFESSOR ZAROFF?!

*cue Doctor WHO theme!

SEVENTEEN OH ONE is my way.

wow it never occured to me that people would have different variations of saying this. how do they say it in the show? i don't remember, but i'm sure people know. >_<

There is also:

10001 oh 1

or

one, zero, zero, zero, one oh one

or

one, triple-zero, one oh one

Sorry just a little binary humor.:guffaw:

:borg:;)
