Quasar may be joining the cast of "Avengers".

No. Something similar to the Silver Age would be fine.

Look. I have a potty mouth there, because I don't understand how you can contemplate making a movie about a team of superheroes, and not include the sole character depicted in the comic book's logo, for I frankly don't even know how many issues. I'm more than a little miffed that Vision got snubbed for the first Avengers film.

Two issues with the classic Vision logo:

An issue with the next Vision logo:

I dunno. He got snubbed for the first 56 issues of the comic, too.

And, unless you just want to pull him out of thin air, you need Ultron. (And Hank Pym--and technically it would be helpful if you had Baron Zemo and Wonder Man!)

...On the other hand, who is the villain of the Avengers film? Go Kang, or go home, I say. But Ultron could work.

Some extremely facile research indicates that the villain will be a Skrull.

I dunno. That could be good, I guess? But it's not like there are going to be thirty of these, probably not best to waste time on rather boring antagonists.

Using a Cosmic Cube for a villain device is really awesome. I'm all for this 100%.

Which is precisely why I want the origin of the Vision expedited. You never know when the plug on the franchise will get pulled.

They could just have a scene where a character is seriously wounded or suffers potential brain damage, and they have to put him through a "brain mapping" procedure to preserve some sort of vital knowledge that he carries. A future sequel could pick it up from there. (A villain captures the brain map, uses it to give intelligence to his android creation, etc.)

Of course, what I'm describing doesn't require the victim to be Simon Williams, or the villain to be Ultron. Would that still work, as long as it resulted in a Vision?

Definitely. I can accept all kinds of reworking in the X-Men series, so I could definitely lose Simon Williams and Ultron in the films.

they have to use Simon Williams from his Hollywood period. c'mon how meta would that be? a movie superhero playing a superhero in movies!

Okay, but in that case, Simon needs to be portrayed by an actor who's played a superhero before. Then it would be "a movie superhero actor playing a movie superhero who plays superheroes in movies."

Think they can get Christian Bale?

Brandon Routh would probably be cheaper . . . :)

Nah, at that point you have to use Robert Downey Jr. Just so he can paraphrase himself from Tropic Thunder. "I am an actor playing a superhero actor playing a superhero"

How about Ben Affleck, who played George Reeves playing Superman in Hollywoodland?

(Not to mention Daredevil.)
