Quark's Bar Recipes from Las Vegas?

Systems Overload Martini

This is what I observed:
OMH, you could observe them at work? When we were there a little over a week ago, Darren and Jeff (Jeef!) were working so fast their hands were a blur!

This is very true. But Darren made at least 3 or 4 of these in front of me in the 5 or 6 hours that we sat there on Sunday. And I even had a Borg Sphere and a Warp Core Breach in me at the time. :bolian:

First we use a 120 ounce Warp Core Bowl. You might be able to find something close a places like Pier 1 Imports or Home to Home. If you want the bubble effect you'll need some dry ice. Place a small amount of water 1 ounce on the bottom of the bowl and then pack it with ice. This will fuse the dry ice to the bottom of the bowl so it does not float to the top.

The recipe is as follows;
2 ounces Bacardi 151 Rum,
1 1/2 ounces each of Bacardi Limon, Bacardi Spice, Bacardi Select and Bacardi Light,
2 ounces of Razzmatazz or a quality Raspberry Liqueur,
Top that off with 30 ounces of a high quality berry juice. Suggestions are Snapple Aceola Berry, Sobe Power or other energy or natural beverages similar. Stay away from anything such as cranberry, it's too bitter.

And as far as I know, a James "Tea" Kirk is an Electric Iced Tea... also known as an "Adios Motherf***er", "Code Blue", "Alaska Iced Tea", etc. which is a Long Island Iced Tea with Sprite instead of Coca-Cola and utilizes blue curacao instead of triple sec.

This is the single most valuable piece of information ever posted on TrekBBS.

Thank you. :techman:

I heard they might be using Bacardi Raspberry as one of the rums now (maybe replacing the light [Silver?], but NOT the 151). And I think they may use a little blue curacao for color.

Systems Overload Martini

This is what I observed:

Rim chilled martini glass with green (apple) sugar

Shake equal Parts Melon Liquor (Midori) and Sweet n Sour (about 3 oz total) with a little crushed ice (about an oz), and pour into the glass first, (to get the strata effect)

Then add 1 oz grenadine, slowly (or pour over spoon to overflow into the glass)

Then float 1 oz of Blavad Vodka (Its black and is no longer easy to get in the states I hear, at least in California)

Sooo yummy!

I will post a pick later.

:techman:

Whoops! Forgot the 99 Apples apple schnapps. Add that to "Shake equal Parts Melon Liquor (Midori) and Sweet n Sour...." should make about 3 oz total.

Revised recipe should read:

Systems Overload Martini from Quark's Bar

  • Rim chilled "clear" martini glass with green (apple) sugar - clear because otherwise, what's the point? :)
  • Shake equal Parts Melon Liquor (Midori), 99 Apples apple schnapps, and sweet 'n sour mix (about 3 oz total) with a little crushed ice (about an oz), and pour into the glass first,
  • Then add 1 oz grenadine, slowly (or pour over spoon to overflow into the glass)
  • Then float 1 oz of Blavod on top
No garnish (green sugar is the garnish)

Order Blavod from here (in the States):
http://www.internetwines.com/rws24162.html

Apple Martini sugar:

or

99 Apples and Midori are available at most any BevMo, as are all the mixers.

The Warp core breach recipe is up now at the Ugly Couch show website courtesy of Jeff!

I think a trip to the liquor store might be order!!!

Deanna Troi's Chocolate Obsession has also gone up there.
Just need the recipe for Mind Meld now.

Former Quark's bartender "Jeef" (80s Jeff of The Ugly Couch Show) has promised to keep posting recipes until all the favorites are up.

Oh, and Darren, who wokred behind the bar at Quark's for more than 8 years, is reportedly now tending bar at the MGM in Vegas.

I find myself hunting for newly posted reports of the closing, fresh pictures or video... anything that can keep the "buzz" of STTE going a little longer. Eventually I'm going to have to accept that that wonderful place is really gone!

Do you know which bar? I might drop by and say hi next time im in Vegas.

I know what you mean, i keep doing the same thing as well.:(

Currently, the Warp Core Breach, Deanna Troi's Chocolate Obsession, the beers, The Borg Sphere, The Tamarian Frost, and the Mind Meld are up at www.uglycouchshow.com. (I believe he just added the Mind Meld as I was going back and forth just now) Click on the blogs section.

All Hail Jeef!

Hey, is there still that opening Ceremony clip around? I seem to remember Jonathan Frakes opening the attraction in a similar way they closed it. I'm making a favorites list, and I have the closing ceremonies, it would just be a perfect full circle thing to have.

I havent seen one on youtube, but I would love to see it. I believe it opened more like the commercial did. LeVar Burton and Jonathan Frakes going line by line the intro to commercial (Engage your senses, Transport Your mind and Boldly go where no one has gone before) then a curtain flies up to reveal the entrance with lots of starfleet and alien officers

I dont drink, but find the recipes kinda cool. I would love to get some of the food recipes though. I wasnt able to try everything on the menu, but I've heard the Moogie's Pasta was amazing and would love to be able to try it at home

Just spotted a Warp Core Breach and Mini Warp Core Breach stand on eBay. (Not my auction, I'm not that sneaky) Already in the 50-60 dollar range it looks like, or I'd jump. The fishbowl is easy to find. That part isn't.

Somebody oughta buy one and replicate them. I'd buy one at reasonable price.

Likewise. :(

Wow, I thought I was the only one...in trying to make STTE last longer. I do have pictures of the last weekend at STTE, but not the closing. I'm having cabling issues that I need to resolve, but I'll make it happen. And I have video of a Warp Core Breach being made and the actual drink "in action" (the misting). :) - Mental note: must do that by this weekend.

Jeef has added the James Tea Kirk (both versions), Chaotica's Death something and another drink that I don't have time to go back and look at. It's in the blogs section of uglycouchshow.com. There's also a new couchcast with behind the scenes alien stories. Hee-hee...
