QoS DVD Announced

I can finally plan on a vague timeframe to see this movie.
I just wasn't going to pay money to see Craig as Bond.
I will sacrifice a Netflix queue slot for it however.

I'll wait a few weeks after the release date and get a used copy from Family Video's website for $10 or less. :techman:

^Was it that bad?
I don't know (though popular opinion seems to be that it's pretty bad), I haven't seen it yet since I see very few movies in the theaters. I just wait for the DVDs since I can watch them when I want and pause them whenever I want.

Of all the big summer movies the only ones I saw in theater was Indiana Jones and Dark Knight, and the only one I bought new on DVD on day one was The Dark Knight, the rest (Hulk, Iron Man, Tropic Thunder, X-Files, Indiana Jones, Hellboy 2) I bought used for less then $10 each on Family Video's website.

Indy and Batman were the only movies I saw in the theater too, and bought both on their respective release days. Indy 4 wasn't nowhere near as bad as everybody made it out to be, and I'm hoping that Solace isn't either.

I liked QoS. It was "okay" though it looks like it got butchered in the editing room as there were some abrupt moments that spun for a loop and had me going "WTF" and it still seems to be missing -for me- some classic "Bond moments" and staples.

Most notably Bond firing his gun at the camera and the blood dripping down.

But it was an OK movie overall.

Why are there no audio commentaries on either Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace DVD's? This is the sole reason I'm not buying either. I loved both movies though and I'll probaby borrow the QOS from my friend who will be buying it.

You can always get the Rifftrax for CR and for assume QoS when it comes out. ;)

"The titular casino battle is coming... SOON!"
"Is that... Is that the casino? Have we arrived at it?! I'm not sure, there's no sign."

"Indian Jones 4 will not be CGI heavy. Well, except for the gophers with the big googly eyes awing at the mushroom cloud and the scenery as the Jeep and duck drive along a cliff's edge, or when Shia LeBouf does a Tarzan swing with a bunch of monkeys through the rain forest, or when Shia has a sword fight with Natasha from Bullwinkle while standing on two quickly moving vehicles flying through uneven forest terrain, or when..."

Yes, it was. Worse, even.

But, according to Yahoo, it gave us the replacement for "Jump the Shark".

Flyin in the Fridge
Yahoo's dumb. This:
Nuke the Fridge
is far superior, even though I don't think that was a JTS-worthy moment.

To JTS it implys that the the object "JTS" has more ahead of it worth "saving" or to decline from. Considering that KotCS was made 20 years or so after the last movie in the franchise it's hard to "JTS" in a stagnant movie franchise that may or may not have more coming after it.

If we're to apply a "JTS"-like phrase to a movie franchise I suggest "shoe-horning the Venom" but, I admit, that it's a rough phrase.

A lot of people hated QoS but I really, really liked it - definitely worth a blu-ray purchase.

I did too. I can't understand why people don't like this, really. I saw it with a friend who didn't like it, and when I asked him why, he couldn't really respond...he just kind of shrugged and said, "Because I didn't".

Oh, well. I enjoyed the heck out of the movie, as well as David Arnold's score that I listen to constantly (I even enjoyed the theme song by Jack White and Alicia Keyes!). It's a shame that Marc Forster won't return, since I loved his little directorial flourishes, but I kind of like how each new installment has a different director, someone willing and interested to bring something new to the franchise (as long as they keep continuity) as well as explore the creative depths of the character.

^ I have to agree with your friend Jackson. I can't quite figure out why I didn't like this film. I just... didn't.

I'll definitely be getting the QoS Blu-Ray.

As it was with Casino Royale, this will be the first time I've seen the film. Never went to the theater for it.
