QFT

Really, is that all you have to contribute to a thread? QFT? How about STFU?

Okay...I'm done. :)

I also enjoy just links to jpgs and replies that are just a string of "Smiley" cartoons too.

Ah yes, the short handed, AOL type fad that is bleeding into Internet message Boards. I will say the top 5 I hate:

1) XXX > YYY (X and Y being anything comparible)

2) "This" (Thank you for your contribution, but isn't that Spam?)

3) "Fail" (Probably the worst one, and then you have "Epic Fail" just to be all the more dramatic)

4) QFT (I think I need to write down some of these short hand words. I still don't think I know what FYIY means))

5) The emoticon being overused.

My personal favorite was the "Al Gore invented..." meme over at the old Yahoo! News discussion boards.

When I first joined the board, I distinctly remember the FAQ mentioning this and stating that one could be warned for spamming if they did not contribute to the thread, as opposed to the various replies you guys mentioned. Maybe I'm wrong, though I don't see it in the current FAQ.

I also want to add to the list the whole "+1" idea, which seems done just to increase post count (though more often I see it on other boards as an attempt to be ironic about wanting to add to one's post count).

Most of those come from the 45+ posts a day people.

When my family lived outside of Seattle, we did most of our food shopping at a place called QFC. So... yeah, that's pretty much all I think about when I see "QFT".

Epic fail is awesome though.

I remember when I first joined, all of my posts were quality posts. Maybe they were not popular in some sense, but they were written well, thought out and generally detailed. As I have stayed on this board, my posts have run the gamut from exceptionally detailed, to whimsically wordless, and everything in between. To me, as long as the point is brought across, I don't see the problem with single word or emoticon posts. Do I think they get a little excessive sometimes? Certainly. You can't build a meaningful and deep conversation from emoticons alone, but there are times when they move the topic along, which can be effective enough considering the nature of the topic.

Just a thought.

"QFT" will have to suffice since we don't have a rep system here. It is the most efficient way for my to show my agreement with a thought-out post.

Ok, everyone's missing the biggest problem here.

QFT doesn't make any $#%@ sense the way people use it!

Let's say that I says "This movie is great!" and then someone else just posts "QFT!"

Ok, what? Who quoted what? You didn't quote me, since all you said was "QFT." So are you saying that I'm the one that quoted something? But wait...that was an original thought! I didn't quote anyone, you jack@$$, I came up with that!

Is it an insult? Someone trying to tell me that I must have stolen my post from someone else? I don't get it.
