Q did that

JesterFace

Fleet Captain
Commodore
When something superweird or maybe a little plothole happens, do you ever think, ”Q was behind that” ?

TNG is basically humanity's trial, so maybe Q has something to do with some odd things that are happening? Just to see how humans will react...

Sort of fun to imagine Q behind Worf's ordeal in Parallels. Kind of seems like his style too lol

However, Q is too much of an egomaniac to let any stunts like that go by without taking credit at some point

Unless he realized after the joke was lame. I think then he'd just think "I can do better" and move on.

Also, I don't think Q would go after Worf specifically. He doesn't seem that interested in "Microbrain".

Maybe the Klingons are in a trial of their own and Q wanted to see how a Klingon "outside" their culture might react...
Why would humanity be the only species to be trialed.

Coming up with stuff is fun.

Q's blatant about his shit. If he's screwing with you, he'll let you know -- and why not? But the idea that "things happen for a reason" is one I'm more than willing to embrace ...

Yeah, I thought about that. I can only imagine Q watching Worf in that episode & being BORED to hell, if it was his idea lol

Nah, until the later shows, Q really only liked messing with Picard. Even giving Riker Q powers was just to mess with Picard

IIRC, wasn't the vortex in "Time Squared" originally going to be attributed to Q, and he was going to admit to it or ask about it in "Q Who?".

[edit]
Yeah, found this on Memory Alpha:

Hurley intended this episode to lead into "Q Who". He explained, "The way it was originally designed, is that three episodes later they're going through space and all of a sudden Picard finds himself stuck in a shuttlecraft in a flash, and he sees the ship falling in to the top of the vortex and exploding. He thinks he's lost his mind; he doesn't know what's going on. Q appears and says, 'Hey, how ya doing?' Picard says, 'You caused that and all these other things?' Q says, 'Ah, well, surprised you didn't put it together earlier. Oh well, you are slow. Just a kind of calling card, something to do. Interesting, wasn't it?'" (Captains' Logs: The Unauthorized Complete Trek Voyages) The idea was nixed by Gene Roddenberry. Hurley complained that it added confusion to the ending. "Why would going into the vortex's center save you? It doesn't make sense. But it does if Q is pulling the strings." (Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion)

dstyer, interesting to hear that Q could have been involved with his tricks during the entire TNG.

Interesting to hear that Q could have been involved with his tricks during the entire TNG. Who knows what might have happened in the final episode had Gene been with us.

I disagree with Q being blatant when ever he screws with people, he just does that to Picard I think out of fun and respect.

Q is certainly capable of causing every woe and every crisis without any evidence being traced to him.

He implied that he was behind that in the novel Q & A

Q is an omnipotent being who likes Picard or is fascinated by him.

With all the rest of the universe Q I don't think would put himself under any obligation to be honest or reveal he was the cause of the anomaly, alien, encounter, religious transformation, extinction, timeline manipulation, or whatever.

He's honest with Picard because he respects Picard. He doesn't have to be so. And with everyone else in the universe Q I don't think would hold himself to a similar level of conduct.
