"Q Are Cordially Invited"

On the anniversary of that blessed day, however, Worf and Geordi La Forge manage to coax the real story out of the pair
So is there anything in there that will "spoil future events" (I have only read the cold equations trilogy post Destiny).
I'm guessing that the framing sequence of Q Are Cordially Uninvited takes place between June and September 2385, just before Revelation and Dust/The Crimson Shadow. 5 year anniversary seems like an opportune moment.

^ Hahaha. Well played.

Actually, it did get a little better in the end. The dialogue in the first half was very formal and clunky but it softened up midway through. I found it strange how often there were very minor misses in continuity. I'm not the type to get worked up about it, but considering this wasn't a story that *had* to be told, the idea that it doesn't agree with details set forth in Greater Than the Sum or glosses over Q-Continuum I was disappointed. The frame story was unnecessary and slightly confusing.

I didn't notice any misses, but I also haven't read Q-Continuum yet, and it's been years since GTTS.

I'm not entirely sure the Q-Continuum books are in the same continuity as the TNG books. I've never found a reference to them anywhere else and some of Picard's experiences would've been worth a follow-up reference.

Doesn't Q&A reference them? I could've sworn it did; I know it referenced Q-Squared, Q-in-Law, and I, Q.

Found this book really disappointing. Chris and I did have fun with the cover issues thought! Podcast Link

Q&A probably did, but I thought that Beyer's Voyager books contradicted Q&A; if so, Josephs may have simply used the latest version of the continuity.

Q&A does in fact reference Q-Continuum. And I don't recall anything outright conflicting with Q-Continuum or Q&Ain The Eternal Tide outside of some minor things about q's childhood. I think Q even mentions finally settling things with Picard in it. I believe there is an oblique reference to the events of Q-Continuum in there as well. (Mainly, the idea that we knew Guinan presided over the ceremony and that Picard and Crusher had met Lady Q before. They're very minor and things that didn't hamper me from giving it a fair shot, but a

Again, I'm not one to get too caught up in it. But it's one of those things that if it's going to go out of its way to slot itself into a particular time period, it could at least acknowledge some of the sparse facts established in GttS. But it is far easier to skip over this disappointing chapter than to try and reconcile it, as it's not strong on its own merits let alone minor missteps in continuity.

Well this isn't necessarily irreconciliable, but The Continuum trilogy ends with 0 still outside the Milky Way Galaxy. If in the future the Federation develops the propulsion technology necessary for conventional trans-galactic travel (and canonically as of the 31st century, the Federation at least has quadrant-range transporters), what is everyone going to do about 0? Q and the Calamarain combined couldn't destroy him for good!

Get sensors that can detect 0 and make sure they never go sublight anywhere near where he is at the time? :P
