Q and the Kelvin timeline

Rad

Lieutenant
Red Shirt
Reading several posts about what villain our crew should take on next, it dawned on me;

What if Q were to reset the Trek universe? Knock the Kevlin-timeline crew into, say, Picards universe (or vice-versa).

Just a thought...

There was an awesome Peter David novel called Q-Squared, about Q and Trelane raising hell across four TNG timelines.

Q was always at his best when squaring off with Picard or Janeway. And so he probably won't bother with the Kelvinverse, because (due to the butterfly effect) those people will probably never be born.

According to every Trek ever, those people will almost certainly be born and serve together on a USS Enterprise despite unlikely and differing circumstances.

I want NuTrek to pay homage to the Prime universe. Let Q tell NuKirk he's not ready for what's out there, let Star Fleet find Data's head, let them call Noonian Soong (it has his face), have Guinan say "this isn't right" pointing out that she feels a shift in the timeline like she does, etc.

Including new Trek.

Hell, these same people serve on the same starship in the Mirror Universe where you advance in rank by killing off the guy above you. What're the odds that they would have all succeeded in their attempts, and survived their subordinates' attempts?

I want them to find footage from the (30s, 60s, 80s) in Star Fleet Records (everything should be saved for posterity in a post youtube age...) and have someone remark that the people involved (nuCrew) have no memories of the events, and in fact are much younger then their counterparts. Discussion about time remnants/fragments ensues.

Maybe there aren't as many "attempts" as people think? Perhaps just the fear of being assassinated is enough to keep most people in line.

It's like what Lex Luthor once said in a Superman film (can't remember which one): "Nobody wants war. I just want to keep the threat alive."

Why would Q care about any of that?

Or what if Q merges the timelines together for some reason Crisis of the Infinite Earths-style? I'm only 60% joking here. It would be interesting to cherry pick certain elements from both timelines, as well as some other previously unexplored timelines, and make a truly unique version of Star Trek. Not suggesting they should do it, but I'm not suggesting they shouldn't do it, either.

Well, why the hell not? X-Men kind of did something like this in Days of Future Past and it was the second highest grossing film worldwide in the franchise (the highest if you don't count Deadpool). Fans seem to generally like crossover films - just so long as it doesn't turn into another wonky AVP-style abortion.

I hid...this uncomfortable quantum particle...in my ass...for many eons...and now...I'm giving it...to you.

Yeah, I could see that. :D
