I don't care whether he's in it or not, and his behavior lately has been pretty embarrassing.
I don't think for a moment that any of this denial is a publicity stunt on anyone's part, for several reasons (not least of which is Roberto Orci's very earnest participation in the Shatner threads over at trekmovie.com). However, the filmmakers have indicated that they've not yet decided whether he'll be in the film or not. That suggests that whatever they have to offer him will be very limited in scope, certainly nothing like Nimoy's essential role.
