Yeah, my station had it on as well. I noticed the Graham thing was on CBS but ABC kept PD on.

Great ep.

Those specials are syndicated. If you have broadband, you could watch it online at ABC later this week (not sure if they go up the day after broadcast) since your local station skipped it.

The Olive/Emerson stuff was great, those two work well together.

The Ned/dead Dead/Chuck stuff was just awful, of all the ways they could have done the story they went with the worst plan. IMO.

Olive trying to chest bump Emerson was one of the filthiest moments ever in an eight p.m. show, I think. And Olive shoving Hormonal out of her cleavage was breathtakingly realistic about teenage boys. Nonetheless, I didn't feel Emerson/Olive worked that well.

Did anyone else notice that this episode was chock full of Pete's Dragon references? I loved it when the a capella group did Helen Reddy's Candle on the Water. That's my favorite song from the movie, and a just plain beautiful song all around (it won an Oscar, too). And I'm sure it's not a coincidence that the show's narrator, Jim Dale, starred in that movie.

It sucked watching this with the knowledge that the show has been cancelled. I just can't seem to like shows that actually live as long as they should. Yeesh.

Great episode. Lots of great zingers, and I loved watching Olive and Emerson working together.

I loved that Emerson's raincoat had cods on it, Olive's had olives, and Ned's had Pie.

My wife and I got a kick out the Pete's Dragon references; It sealed it when the kid's name was Elliott. Even Papa McQuoddy's cave hooked to the left like Pete's.

Anybody catch any green and purple dragons elsewhere?

Good, I wasn't the only one! The references I caught:

- The lighthouse keeper's name is Nora, just like the lighthouse keeper in
PD.
- Nora's significant other was lost at sea, and she kept watch for him from
her lighthouse, just like in PD.
- Nora's son's name is Elliot, the name of the Dragon in PD.
- McQuoddy sounds like the last few syllables of the name of the town in PD, Passamaquoddy.
- There was a sea cave, like in PD.
- The a capella group singing Candle on the Water.
- And of course, just like in every other episode, the show was narrated by Jim Dale, who played the snake-oil salesman Doctor Terminus in PD.

Above Average. Olive makes such a wonderful detective and the name-themed raincoats were adorable.

I've been impressed by guy who is doing such a terrific job playing Chuck's dad, swathed in makeup and bandages: Josh Randall (Nathan from Lost). It must take real talent to convey such wonderful personality with his face entirely obscured.

I wonder what dead-dad and his corpse-face are going to do out on the open road?

Yes and yes. If the show had been exclusively Olive/Emerson, I would have been pleased. IMO, Ned and Chuck are trying to recapture something they can't get back, which parallels Chuck's relationship with her Dead Dad. She wants to go back and relive her childhood without really knowing who her dad was.

For some reason I didn't realize that Pushing Daisies was also "PD". I meant Pete's Dragon.
