When the most popular escort at a rent-a-friend agency turns up dead, the team investigates who killed him, including likely suspect Randy Man, the guy's antisocial, taxidermy-loving roommate. Meanwhile, Emerson's famed private investigator mom, Calista Cod, pays an unexpected visit.

Damn! I got stuck at work and missed it. :( I hate living in the Central time now. Everything comes on an hour earlier and I am still not used to it yet. I also can't seem to get away from the office before 7 these days either.

I will try and download it tomorrow! I hope it was good.

Another great episode. I ADORE Emerson's mother. She's an absolute riot. I hope we see more of her in the future.

I love Emerson's mom! They are wonderful together. Their dialogue was hilarious.

I also liked the way Ned tried to bond with "creepy dude Randy," and the raining jock straps effect.

Coming back in a sec, I'd like to add that, much as I enjoy every episode, this one is the first one to really feel like it's going someplace interesting.
That's because it's about Emerson, of course. I'd get enthused over hoping they go further down this route, except I'm preparing myself for the end.

I was pretty surprised to see Emerson's mom being white... he doesn't look that light skinned. "Not that there's anything wrong with that!" ;) Good episode.

But the last scene was just creepy.
Agreed. I definitely did not get it. Also, it doesn't seem to stick with the sense of whimsy that the show usually has, especially with regard to romance.

I don't know if you've already seen it, but it is available at ABC's website--it's how I watch it, since I don't have a TV.

I also liked the way Ned tried to bond with "creepy dude Randy,"
I liked the Ned-Randy bonding as well, and the nice twist of Ned learning from Randy--I didn't see that coming, and I was glad they actually went somewhere with it (Ned telling Chuck that he wanted to live alone) rather than it just being a cute line.

Since this season started I've felt like they need to introduce another main character. I can't really put my finger on why I feel this way--it just seems like it would open up the world a little and add some storytelling possibilities. Anyone else feel this way?

I really enjoyed this episode. It was great getting to meet Emerson's mom, I hope they bring her back sometime. Yeah, the stuff with Randy and Ned too. They're actually kinda similar in a way if you think about it, Randy with his preserving things (in a very creepy way) through taxidermy, and Ned bringing them back to life. FYI, when I looked the episode up on TV.com they had Randy down as a recurring character, so apparently he might be sticking around.

Another excellent from me too. More brilliant performances, and I loved Calista Cod. Everyone got some great character work this week (well, except the MIA aunts, of course, but I'm glad the writers don't feel the need to shoehorn them into every episode). And the ending left me with a smile on my face, I couldn't ask anything more from a show like this.

Above Average, but it would have been an Excellent if this were any other show. :D

But the last scene was just creepy.
Would have probably been a bit better if Chuck/Anna Friel didn't look so darn embarrassed about it. Arms tightly wrapped around your naked self screams awkward, not sexy or romantic.

They need a solid antagonist who will amp up the drama, largely to stop people from bailing on the show due to the lack of something really compelling at stake. It's probably too late to save the ratings, but here's something from my post in the Wed Nielsens thread:

Ned is a murderer - he deliberately killed a man just to resurrect Chuck. Have the cops find out and be looking for the killer. Maybe have an antagonist-cop, someone open-minded enough to realize what kind of killer he's looking for.

Imagine if Fox Mulder were handed the funeral director's murder as an X-File and was determined to track down the killer in his usual dogged way. That subplot might keep the audience from drifting away - they want to see what happens when "Mulder" finally tracks down Ned. Ned & the rest don't even need to know what's coming. The conflict just needs to be more amped up and dire or people get bored.

^ I agree that the show could use a little more focus in the atagonist department. It would really ramp things up if Ned, Chuck, Emerson and Olive had something to drive them... other than pie and a sorted love triangle. Don't get me wrong, I love those things but I think things could be better.

As for the what it should be... I think that Ned should discover someone who has the same powers but is using it for something terrible. We could call him/her the "Anti-Ned".

And I still haven't had time to watch. It is on my list of things to do tomorrow.

It's getting a little samey.

I wonder why no one has talked about exhuming Harvey Lee Oswald to find out if he really did it? ...This would be the perfect mechanism for another apparent "resurrection" of Andy Kaufman. I love it when he pretends he's not dead.

And...

DINOSAURS!!!!

And why is it when the words "Olive riding Ned all night" mostly have thinking the diminutive little Jockey has put a saddle on him and she's whipping his ass to the finish line?

I think that Ned should discover someone who has the same powers but is using it for something terrible

That's a good idea - it would be very easy to become a killer-for-hire with Ned's powers. Just commit murder, lure your real victim to the crime scene, and un-murder your victim. Nobody can nab you for either crime. Bwah!

But we saw... Okay, I and a few teen age girls and a horde of spank monkeys with bleeding ears saw how well that turned out in Ghost Whisperer. meanwhile Jumper is perhaps one of the least thought out pieces of shit it has ever been my misfortune to view ever.

"Ned... You are not alone..."

"Really? Hey! They said that one Doctor Who the other night and... That really really turned out wuite bad,"
