I also missed the Happy Time thing, are you sure you didn't heard something else?

And I did notice the mom, it's the mom not the sister, from Wonderfalls, I just finished that show for the third time the other day.

It was a Happy Time mention. I wasn't sure I heard it, and played it back a couple of times to be sure.

Emerson always has the best lines!
I posted this in the Thread Bomb thread in Misc:

Wow, what an awesome way to come back from such a long hiatus. The dialogue was top-notch last night; the alliteration and rhythm was just superb. And the humor... god, I was laughing to tears the whole hour.

Man, I'm so glad this show is back. I needed the ooey-gooey sugary awesomeness that the show provided.

Above average. Charming stuff (Ned's bell shoes, the scene where he brings the bees back to life) but I think they're definitely going to have to give this show more of an edge and a more interesting internal conflict that just worrying whether Chuck's aunts will find out about her and whether Chuck will find out who her mother really is. There needs to be some sharp snappy flavor added to all this sweetness.

Bad news....

Things do look bleak however for Pushing Daisies which only scored 6.32 million viewers and did not perform well in either age demographic. Worse, still it lost viewers from the first half hour to the second (6.71 million to 5.96 million). It lost to Knight Rider (7.56 million) in viewers and in the demos.
It lost to Knight Rider!!!

Yeah, the numbers are not good. Here's a telling detail:

Particularly negative for Pushing Daisies was a drop of 780,000 viewers (6.71 to 5.93 million) in the second half hour.

Sweetness & light ain't cutting it now that the novelty has worn off and viewers have forgotten about the show because of the long hiatus (which is hurting many shows, particularly the ones that were new last fall). They could keep all that, and the humor, but viewers need something more attention-grabbing to hold their interest.

OTOH, Pace and Chenoweth's Emmy nominations might give the show more of a reprieve than it otherwise would have. Prestige does matter some, but only if the numbers are marginal rather than disastrous.

It might help if they promoted the show some. I didn't even know it was back on this week until I saw it in the Sunday paper. Maybe I'm just missing the commercials, but I swear I hadn't seen anything about it lately.

I don't watch the channel a whole lot, but I've seen a few ads for it over the Summer.

It's been a while been a while since I've last seen an episode, but I quickly got back into the show. Olive was as great as always; I wonder what she's going to do now that she's lost all her belongings. Hopefully she won't be exiled for too long. And Emerson continues to have the best lines in the show. I rated it Excellent.

I had forgotten just how much I love this show, its just leaves me with a warm & fuzzy feeling inside and a big stupid grin on my face.

Okay, if they crossed over into happy time would they see Millie or George?

And what would happen if Ned touched a Reaper?

Do you know the history of Pushing Daisies? Ned was supposed to be in an arc of Deal Like Me, however Bryan Fuller left the show before he could. So he sat on the idea, let it move around and then we got Pushing Daisies.

The episode felt like an odd mess to me, just didn't have the PD feel to it at all. I felt like I was watching a rerun or something.

I'm hoping next week's is better, and with clowns it should be. :)

I have to agree with this assessment and gave it an average rating.

I'm relieved they're still embracing the weird and NOT trying to make it more mainstream, but this episode spent too much time recapping. I'm willing to attribute the bad pacing to the newly-back-from-hiatus syndrome common of TV shows, and assume this problem will go away.

After 10 episodes I'm amazed that we can be so sure about what this show is supposed to be about or like... Y'know, considering we have to wonder if Ned's family has similar abilities, or did you forget about his half brothers and sisters? I mean there could be a guild or rules or an enemy and hunting if those like Ned are abominations if we must revert to the most obvious plot devices.

Not to mention that there hasn't been even a minor cast addition since the first episode, although I must say I wouldn't mind the return of some of the gueststars like Peewee Herman or that jockey from The Adventures of Old Christine since they were almost romantic interests other than Ned for Chuck and Olive respectively.

How many episodes this season?
