Publicity Poster for Our Next Episode

No need to obsess about it. It's not like they're ignoring us, or there is a brick wall... the talks with Paramount about any and all possibilities are on-going.

Also, it's unfair to speak about Paramount as a single entity. It's a lot of different people with different viewpoints: and different spheres of power and influence. There are folks there at every spot in the continuim: folks who want to take advantage of our product and are actively pursuing the possibilities, all the way to folks who want to hear nothing about it. Some day the stars will all align....when it's time for them to.

Well, I'm glad to hear there is some chance of SOMETHING happening for you guys.

In a perfect world, Paramount would at least help to subsidize some of the production costs in exchange for the video distribution rights.

Not sure if that would make these productions part of the official canon, but hey, what happens happens, I s'pose....

Very cool! I recognized the story the moment I saw the picture, even though I read that short story collection when it first came out way back in the '70s. Mind Sifter was a standout in that collection, and the one I remember best. Good choice!

I found it in the ship's library of the USS Enterprise about eight years ago; for whatever reason, the recently reissued The New Voyages volumes were the only Star Trek books aboard.

I remember reading that whole compilation of material regarding Trek. The Mind-Sifter (or as someone describes in the story, the Mind-Ripper) was insteresting as to what would happen to Kirk if he were lone and lost with no help coming. I'm interested to see what that will look like in TV episode format.

I'm excited about this as I love this story, but am a bit concerned that this may be a bit to much for James to handle.

It is not my intent to criticize as I've enjoyed and am truly fond of every episode that NV/P2 has produced.

However, the acting range required to run through a part like this is one hell of a huge plate.

To go from terrified, to weeping and helpless, to hopeless and lost, to glimpses of confidence and sanity returning, and then self destructing in pain, confusion, and horror all over again is demanding enough for a seasoned actor.

James, I wish you nothing but the best with this one, and am curious as to what you are doing to prepare for such an emotionally demanding performance.

If you can hurtle this one, I think even the nay-sayers will have to shut up. (even if only for a moment.;) )

Good Luck!

"Mind-Sifter" was by far the best of the New Voyages series, and until today I hadn't read the original version (I didn't even know there WAS an different version from what was published). James and the Phase II team do indeed have a hell of a challenge ahead of them but I'm sure it will be a great success... can't wait!

One of the things I've always liked about the P2 group is that they are constantly pushing themselves to the next level. They are not sitting back and "working the formula" as it were once they found out "what works".
