Ptrope gets his feet wet - AquaShuttle 2.5

Just as a side thought, I've decided upon what I see as the general design philosophy of this particular aquashuttle: If TOS had continued and something like "The Ambergris Element" were done live action, perhaps Gene Winfield was called upon once more to build them an appropriate shuttle, but again, on a not-unlimited budget. Therefore, having a ratty old 30' (or so) fiberglass speedboat hanging around in the yard behind the customizing shop - maybe something someone traded him for some auto work or such - Gene, in the tradition of George Barris and the Batmobile, took the speedboat and made it the centerpiece of the shuttle, building everything else out from there, and retaining some of the elements he had used on Galileo.
That actually makes a lot of sense, and what you've made definitely fits in with other TOS/TAS designs. Nice work on this project. :techman:

Some folks had asked about orthos, so I popped one out ... still very much a WIP, but close enough to get the gist of things. ;)

Those 'blisters' on the nacelles are the lower steps to access the craft -they have covers to enclose them when the shuttle is in motion:

Well, it's far from finished, but sure ;) . When it is finally done, you'll need to make sure to update the dB ;) .

No bikini-clad girl, but now she has a place to cook up a quick meal if needed! I have the aft portion of the interior pretty well blocked out, so now comes the really hard part: detailing and texturing! Contrary to Star Trek tradition, there is a head on the port side, then an equipment locker in the center, a small galley in the starboard corner, and finally the mini-lab - this is a multi-function research lab which can also double as an emergency med-bay, as the console is sized to allow a patient to lie flat and it acts as a full-body scanner. I plan to put a couple monitors on the large side wall there, and smaller readouts on the lower angled panel - very similar to a bridge station. Lots of overhead cabinets, and there will also be drawers under the consoles and cabinets in the lower portion. All the comforts of home! ;)

Needs a couple of fishing poles sticking up from the aft deck. :)

I can see Kirk and Spock on a research dive with Robert Shaw abaord as a crazy Starfleet admiral haranging them. A giant alien fish swims up and Kirk says "we're gonna need a bigger shuttle..."

A little more detail work to the aft section - I've added the bridge-style monitors, although the textures are all placeholders at this point ;).
