PS2 aspect ratio

I recently bought an Orion 32ins LCD TV and I've noticed that games running on my PS2 will not display at full screen, sitting in the middle filling all but a black bar that runs round the screen, despite trying to change the settings to the different display settings that can be selected. Incase it makes any difference the TV itself has a resolution of 1366 x 768.

Any ideas what might cause this and if it can be fixed?

have you tried the settings on your TV in addition to the ps2?

Yes, I've tried all the ratio settings that are also on the TV - 4:3, 16:9, 14:9, Full Screen, Cinema and Auto - and all still have black bars round the sides and top and bottom.

The PS2 is NOT widescreen friendly. I messed with my PS2 for two years before I gave up trying to get it to work.

Are you using the component cable?

I had lots of problems on my 42" Westinghouse LCD until I switched to component. Now the picture is greatly improved.

BTW you can use the PS3 component video cabling on the PS2 (that what I do).

I started using the PS2 component cable ever since I bought the TV and that was when I realised the problem I was having but if the PS3 component is compatible cable is compatible and is likley to improve the picture then I think I might give it a go.

Can't you change the PS2's aspect ratio in the PS2 system menu?
