Prometheus: Ridley Scott returns to Sci-Fi

The movie will be awesome no doubt. BUTTT, as we are all worshipping at the altar of Ridley Awesome Scott, if this same movie, shot for shot, were made by Michael Bay, would anyone of us be so excited or heaping praise at the trailer? ;)

Well fortunately for us, Bay has no chance as hell of ever making something like this. Hell, the 20th Century Fox logo has more credibility and class then he does. And considering the state of Fox right now...thats saying something.

I don't know... There are Michael Bay movies that I like more than most of what Ridley Scott has done in the last couple of years.

That said, none of Scott's last few movies had trailers that looked anywhere near as cool as these Prometheus trailers.

This is killing me. I'm dying to see the new trailer but I can't because my ship's computer network blocks YouTube. Does anyone have a link (or know where to look for one) to the trailer that doesn't use YouTube?

Try here and scroll down a bit.

Spoiler coded for a reason

It may not be the xenomorph we know from Alien, but there is definitely some kind of creature in this movie. And it looks like it makes the crew go batshit crazy.

Whatever they end up doing in this movie, it has to be an epic cluster for the biosphere, cause LV-426 looks like hell in the subsequent films.

It seems like the Alien might be a biomech weapon of the Space Jockey after all, and it only adopted its famous look after the encounter with the Prometheus crew and incorporating human DNA. The shots of the Jockey's movement/living body and that relief on the wall look similar to the Alien, but not quite a match.

I like that there's yet another odd-ball android in this one, too.

I predict no one survives this film. They're certainly not going home on the Prometheus.

EDIT: Scratch that last bit. On the the Weyland website their inventions/projects timeline includes an entry for a single occupant lifepod capable of suspended life for 50 years. Weak. Why would they put that on the website? I suppose they could subvert and have the pod be destroyed, dooming the final survivor, but still, hold your cards a little closer to your chest, Ridley.

David the android- Big things have small beginnings...

Could he be another android that knows whats going on like Ash?

The company develops bullets made from material found in another solar system a year before they introduce the first FTL exploration vehicle.

:rommie: Did George Lucas write that?
They could always explain that away as stuff harvested from asteroids (similar to how meteorites contain much higher concentrations of iridium than are found on this planet), which could even be a cover story for "we dismantled some alien stuff".

Not the way the time line entry reads.

This thing sets the bar way high. Apparently it blows Avatar away. JJ and the Trek people better be on their toes because Sir Ridley has officially entered the Building.

Why do we have to compare them? Because they are both Sci-fi films? They are completely different types of film in style and content.

So one of them isn't heavy with special effects, danger, people running around,
and at least one scene of a woman removing her clothing?

And which one would that be?

:)

What an odd thing to say.

Michael Bay would not make something like this shot for shot, because Bay has a different visual palette than Scott. If Bay shot movies like this, he probably wouldn't be as disliked as he is.
