Prometheus: Ridley Scott returns to Sci-Fi

Re: The latest "Alien" prequel rumours - Scott directing, in 3-D?

I'm ... about as interested in this as I was before. Which is to say, quite a bit.

Re: The latest "Alien" prequel rumours - Scott directing, in 3-D?

I'm very excited about the news that this project is no longer an Alien prequel! :techman::techman::techman:

I was not looking forward much to a prequel, but *this* I can get behind.

Re: The latest "Alien" prequel rumours - Scott directing, in 3-D?

What this franchise did NOT need was another film filled with nameless, faceless, bald black men running down corridors being chased by the creatures about whom we couldn't give two flying fucks.

:guffaw:

This was my reaction. Ridley Scott, sci-fi, that's close enough for me. If they're that excited about the new take on the story then it's probably good.

Sigh. This lost me when I got to the 3-D part. Someday they'll realize the Kool-Aid shouldn't taste like almonds.

Hollywood Reporter

Michael Fassbender will star opposite Noomi Rapace in Prometheus, Fox's sci-fi project that was once an Alien prequel.

Ridley Scott is directing the movie, which just shifted release dates, moving from a March 2012 berth to a high-profile summer release of June 8, 2012.

Much of the story line is shrouded by secrecy, but Scott said the movie will have "Alien DNA." Fassbender is playing an android.

Re: The latest "Alien" prequel rumours - Scott directing, in 3-D?

My interest level with this project keeps increasing.

Re: The latest "Alien" prequel rumours - Scott directing, in 3-D?

Yes I wondered where this thread was as the blogs are jumping with every site possible posting that Fassbender has signed on here. Yay! Although there have been a few sites now saying Fox is already denying this is official. I'm liking the cast and the possibilities, but these red herrings are getting to be a bit much.

Fassbender's supposed commitment here also means Kristen Stewart and Viggo Mortenson are supposed to be in Snow White. Although if he can't be in both projects, doesn't that mean Charlize Theron also can't do both? I swear, sometimes I wish I didn't have the internet for these bits and could just go to the movies when the movie came out!

Can Fassbender be Scott's new muse for the next ten years and retire his Crowelove? :)

ETA: Here's a page on the Fassbender online forum with all of the links, if you can see it. I don't think you have to be a member?

Re: The latest "Alien" prequel rumours - Scott directing, in 3-D?

I had to search to find this thread again. Charlize Theron confirmed and Fassbender saying it is definitely Alien related and like the original movie? Intriguing, Batman!

So many news articles are coming up about this I can't keep track! When did MTV become such a de facto movies source, anyway? Remember when MTV News was just the spinning planet in between videos?

Re: The latest "Alien" prequel rumours - Scott directing, in 3-D?

^ Yes there's so much mis information going on out there regarding all these Snow White competitions. So I guess we'll just have to wait and hear something from Theron to figure out which Snow White she is attached to, if any.

I keep getting ripped on the MFO forum because I think Prometheus is going to be about someone doing some experiments and what not with the xenomorphs or space jockey race. Scott, Fassbender, and Rapace would not use words like 'strands of alien DNA' and 'connecting vein' after reading the script unless they were implying something. The title itself akins to Frankenstein. I've been told I'm reading too much into these purely metaphor comments, but I definately think they are being tongue in cheek about it. In the video Fassbender called the aliens tall and then said he was too nervous to say more. I've always speculated on how the original ship crashed, didn't you?

Yeah, 'video killed the radio star' Remember that? What killed video, the internet? I just turned 30, can you tell?

not that there's anything wrong with that. ;)

There's nothing wrong with turning 30? ';)

Re: The latest "Alien" prequel rumours - Scott directing, in 3-D?

Was listening to the Kevin Pollack Chat Show today via podcast and he interviewed Damon Lindleof about various things like writing, Stephen King, Lost, Cowboys and Aliens and Promethius. He mentioned how he got the gig from Ridley Scott and how he wanted the "prequel" to showcase more of the Xenomorph species that we haven't seen before. I know it's kind of vague but it was a great interview.

Re: The latest "Alien" prequel rumours - Scott directing, in 3-D?

i wish they would quit being so vague about this project. i have a feeling that we're going to be teased with possible Aliens showing up...and then get a quick cameo or something.
