Project: Potemkin "The Void"

I just published an article about Potemkin which you can see by clicking here.
Mike, do you only cover sci-fi type productions?

No. I'm open to any production that is made to be distributed mainly through the Internet. I did a story on the Netflix production of "House of Cards" that will air next year. However, the sci fi stories seem to generate the most interest and since I'm paid by page views...

You guys did the hard work, I just get to enjoy it and write about it! By the way, I'm one of the few people here who's been to Albany since I have relatives there. (I'm one of the even fewer who knows how to pronounce it properly!) Congratulations again. I'm looking forward to more of your work.

Thanks! Not everyone's heard of All-benny, that's for sure. I'm glad you enjoyed our efforts!

... And Mr. Science is a cool dude. He's just been transmorgrified into three different women in our episodes and vignettes: Lieutenant Allen, Ensign T'Noshi, Lieutenant Spampinato.
And probably will be again as actors come and go... :)

Mr. Science is my hero. He's better than Mr. McFish who also popped up in one recent script. :D

Congratulations! I enjoyed it. The episode premise and resolution were great, and I like the way you mesh TMP and TOS designs. I'll chime in with additional remarks in the coming days.

We look forward to your comments! Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the production!

Nice, Nice. Very nice. The Captain was awesome. Very interesting to watch. I thought the guy with the horn was going to be silly. Turned out just the opposite. Didn't hear the resolution but the story sounded interesting enough. I'm gonna see it again, but I see no limits to how good this thing could get. I like the push button pads. That made it easier to do I bet. Wish I could submit stories and especially music?

Glad you liked it!

Yes, the pads make for easier construction. I made a small scale TOS-era helm with glass beads, and underlight it with LEDs. I'm telling you, I really prefer what we ended up with.

We're always welcoming story submissions; send them to producer@projectpotemkin.com with the phrase STORY SUBMISSION in the subject.

As far as music goes, I'll be glad to put you on the waiting list. Right now we have four musicians who are lined up to do the next seven productions.

Wow, that's cool. Can you have a competition for best main theme? That would be really neat. I'll get on the waiting list. The beads didn't look good? The pads look a little romper roomish but I like it and it makes sense.

Naw, the beads were just tougher to set than I had thought they would be.

The main theme for Potemkin has already been set: it's Andrew Morgan Smith's work, and the composers for the episode work it into the episode in ways of their own choosing. You can hear it during the opening and closing credits in general.

I have a hard time distinguishing the theme in the opening. It's muddled and blurred. Is that theme locked in forever? If I were doing my own series, nothing would be set in stone as better things happen. Not that what you have is bad. It has an ambiance but I can't really hear and identify it too clearly. I don't know if it's the sound or what.

Okay. Do you have a set number of columns you do? Please feel free to hit me up via mail if this is too off-topic. :)

As requested elsewhere, he's the DVD front cover for "The Void." A PDF of the DVD and a large poster will be made available on the Potemkin website within a week or two.

Thanks. It was done by one of the gals at Fast Copy. I'm sure that they'll make it all really spiffy by the end of next week. It's the sort of thing they enjoy creating.

I'm about to watch in a few minutes myself. I will chime in once I'm finished depending on if I get any distractions while I'm trying to watch, lol.

It is similar to watching Starsky and Hutch in the afternoon, or trying to brush your teeth at three pm. You have to do it with three guys trying to beat you up at the same time, but it's worth it.

I think I mean he's gonna enjoy it (a little like a guilty pleasure). It's a very English production but I really like the Captain. Reminds me of Forbin from Collossus, that type, very civilized which goes well with the science officer who is passionate. The character mix is great and the combination works and they are very well drawn, developed and realized. Well you asked. I liked the Klingons too. I hope she will be a recurring role. I like what you did with her voice. God is in the details. Soltrana?

Interesting comments. Thanks!

Not sure if Commander Kumaonna will be able to return for a recurring role. The actress is now in Atlanta pursuing her acting career there.

We've been working on getting the HQ version and downloadable versions released this week, but our online file folder site keeps timing out. Steve Gallant and I will get them up as soon as possible, and sorry for the delay! Once we get the AVI, we'll upload it to Vimeo in HQ.
