Project: Potemkin, a Star Trek Fan Film

Here's the update on Season 3. Most of the vignettes are very much complete, a few needing some minor VFX, some needing major ones. However, we're well on track to getting them done in time for this schedule:

S03-A "Holding Pattern" -- Virtually Complete, Needs Score -- Projected Release: November 2014

S03-B "Unspoken" -- Now Editing, Needs VFX & Score -- Projected Release: December 2014

S03-C "The Chair" -- Needs VFX & Score -- Projected Release: January 2015

S03-D "We Few" -- Needs VFX & Score -- Projected Release: February 2015

S03-E "Third Watch" -- Needs VFX & Score -- Projected Release: March 2015

S03-F "Frazier's Angels" -- Now Editing, Needs VFX & Score -- Projected Release: April 2015

S03-G "Do No Harm" -- Needs VFX & Score -- Projected Release: May 2015

S03-H "Battlecruiser Kupok" -- Now Filming -- Projected Release: June 2015

S03-1 "The Last Child" -- Now Filming -- Projected Release: July 2015

S03-I "Ladies Night Out" -- In Pre-Production (Filming April 26th) -- Projected release: August 2015 (but we may release a tentative version at TrekTrax Atlanta 2015)

And here's Season 4's productions, albeit far more tentative. All are in pre-production. Filming will commence in May 2014 on Season 4.

S04-A "Landing Party" (writer: David Eversole)

S04-1 "The Monsters Are With Us" (writer: Chuck Bramlett)

S04-2 "Callie" (writer: David Eversole)

S04-3 "Between Two Worlds" (writer: Ray Coleman)

S04-B "The Talinar Incident" (writer: Alex Everett)

There are other scripts currently under consideration as well.

Upcoming Convention Schedule:

April 11-13, Tampa FL: Away Mission 2014

Be sure and stop by our panels and showings of our recent episode and vignettes. We will be showing some of our completed projects from the coming months! An excellent opportunity to get a sneak peak at what's in store for viewers!

Attending will be Creator/Executive Producer Randy Landers and Operating/Financial Officer Linda Marcusky (his wife) who will be discussing the filming of a fan film on a ZERO DOLLAR budget!

April 18-20, Salt Lake City, UT: Salt Lake City Comic Con 2014

While we're unable to attend ourselves, Carl Stark will be manning the freebie table, where our episodes (including the newest releases) will be playing there. We've got flyers there to hand out as well.

April 25-27, Atlanta, GA: Trek Trax 2014

Just like last year, we'll be having plenty of panels and showings of both our current episode and vignettes, but we'll have more than a few showings of upcoming productions! And we're working hard on premiering our next production, S02-C "Second Contact" at this convention as well!

Attending will be Randy Landers, Linda Marcusky, Actress/Director Abby Evans (Lt Tyler Landon), Actress Leslie Lewis (Ensign Ava), Actress Renda Carr (Dr Maura Drake), Actor/Director Tim Carr, and Actress Christin Woods (Ensign T'Noshi).

We'll also be filming another vignette with the cast and crew of other productions, including Starship Farragut and Starship Reliant. Unlike last year when we produced the completed vignette in 36 hours, we're not going that route this year. The vignette we'll be shooting this year will have its special grand premiere at next year's convention.

So if you're planning on attending these fine conventions, be sure and stop by our tables/panels/viewings and say "Hi!"

We've just gotten the schedule for this weekend's convention. We'll be screening our hit episode, "The Night the Stars Fell from the Sky" at 11:00am on Saturday, and we'll be hosting a panel (and showing a few vignettes) at 3:00pm Saturday as well! If you're planning on attending the convention, be sure and come by and say hello!

Randy, you guys came to Tampa too late...or I moved to Boise too early....but in any case, I would have loved to meet up with you guys. Hope the folks in my old stomping grounds treat you well.

Our next vignette, "Beach Towel," is now scheduled for a May 31st release (or thereabouts). The production is getting a final tweak on sound and music, and then it should be ready.

Its sequel, "Shovel of Kahless," is planned as a June release, and is awaiting one final series of planet-based VFX for completion.

"Command Decision" is complete except for music, and will be released in July.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Project: Potemkin's vignette, "Archway" (S01-G). This production was made an official selection of the Phoenix Comicon Film Festival!

Cast members: Jeffrey Green, Doug Harper, Hannah E. Ruiz and Richard Thornton.
Director: Doug Harper.
Writer: Randall Landers
Music: Tony Lunn
VFX: Mark Brennan, Chris Cameron, Rick Foxx, Randall Landers, Alex Patrick Merrill, Robert Reed.

Thanks. This is our second production accepted for showing at Phoenix Comicon.

We're presently at 480 members for our FaceBook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/projectpotemkin/. We have a special offer for our fans. If you help us reach 500 members, we'll release our next vignette, "Beach Towel" S02-E immediately. Fear not, the production will be released either way by next Friday, May 30th. What do you think? Can you help us make this goal?

And believe me, "Beach Towel" will be worth it... :)

It's a wrap! The shoot for "The Talinar Incident" (S04-A) went exceedingly well! Footage on the bridge was completed in 2-3/4 hours. Another 60 mins for the ready room sequence. And 15 mins for the Klingon Commander shoot. Total Time: 4 hours. Lunch served, and we were done.

My thanks to John Wallace, An D Rew Ross, Rachel Riemke, Richard Hope Thornton, Dakota Dodge and Chris Gilstrap for their fine work. Special thanks to Jack Zumwalt who shaved his moustache for the role of an Andorian scientist, and Eric Holt for his performance both as a Klingon Commander and for his role as makeup artist. Last, but not least, my thanks to Matthew Trammell who served as sound technician, Nick Riemke who served as both grip and director's assistant, and to location hostess Linda Marcusky whose hotdogs hit the spot after a long morning!

I think we did Alex Everett's script proud. From Sara Higgins Mackenzie's Andorian vest, to Kim Landers' Andorian antennae, to Jack Zumwalt loaning Eric Holt's Klingon commander some accoutrements, it all came together beautifully.

Congrats cast and crew for a job well done!!!

Pictures to follow soon.

Coming up over the next few months:

S02-G "Command Decision" will be released in July 2014. We are just waiting on the scoring from Tony Lunn.

S02-H "Just Once" will be released we hope at the end of August 2014. Rick Foxx is working on the panel animations. Mark Berge is working on the VFX. Tony Lunn is working on the score.

S02-I "Red Sky at Night" will be released we hope at the end of September. Rick Foxx will be working on the set extensions. Chris Cameron will be working on the VFX. Tony Lunn will be working on the score.

S02-J "Closing Time" will be re-released in October with a new soundtrack and extensive ADR work. (Bill Mackenzie rerecorded another line for us this afternoon, in fact.) If "Just Once" is delayed, we may opt to move this one up in release order. All that remains is the score from Tony Lunn.

S03-1 "Holding Pattern" will be released in November. All that remains for it is the score.

S03-2 "Unspoken" will be released in December. Still working on a few VFX, including two orbital shots, and the score.

Whew! What a terrific shoot!

On Saturday, July 12th 2014, Mj Johnson, Bill Mackenzie, Sara Higgins Mackenzie, Nic Wawruck, James Green, Ashley Longacre, William C. Searcy and little ol' me, Randy Landers, gathered at the Pirates Cove Nature Park in Leesburg, Georgia, for a strenuous shoot in primitive if not primeval conditions for S04-B "The Hunt." Written by Dave Mackenzie, the script involves a first contact situation between the crew of the Potemkin and a group of natives on an alien world. The shoot took seven hours (with a thirty minute hearty lunch provided by Linda Marcusky) in the grueling heat and humidity of South Georgia.

But everyone did a terrific job! Sara Mackenzie's costumes were terrific. Both she and Bill Mackenzie contributed greatly to the filming/directing of the episode. William Searcy did a great job capturing the event; he fell ill from the heat, but not until after we finished most of the shoot. Bill and Sara appear to have donated a lot of blood to the local insectoids, and we captured some terrific footage in a beautiful subtropical swamp.

I intend to capture the footage on Monday, and deliver to Bill Mackenzie for editing later this week.
This should be a great vignette, and I thank everyone who helped make this possible!

Our shoot in the swamp was quite successful. Unfortunately, it took a toll on at least three cast members: Sara and Bill Mackenzie were nearly eaten alive by chiggers. And I developed a very nasty infection on the back of my neck (the size of a chicken egg), possibly from a mosquito bite, that ended up with outpatient surgery and a rather gaping hole in my neck for drainage (and yes, it's still draining). That being said, I'm reminded of all the crazy things we do for love of Star Trek. :)

Currently, we're uploading DVD cover art and posters in our Facebook Group for our latest releases: https://www.facebook.com/groups/projectpotemkin/. If you're not a Facebook user, you can email me or IM me here, and I'll send you any covers you might desire.

We've also uploaded additional close captioned versions in English, Russian, Portuguese and Spanish to YouTube. Just click the CC button and see what's available. I hope to have the remaining eight productions in all four languages by the end of August.

Lastly, August's release, S02-H "Just Once" is in the capable hands of Rick Foxx and will presumably be released before the end of August as well.
