Real Janeway is hunting the Protostar with a QS Dauntless Class starship.

I have to say the Dauntless class looks a bit... iffy... the Protostar looks much nicer to the eye, but then again, the Dauntless is SF's first real design around QS drive. There may be future iterations that look better.

I really wonder how they will handle this chase... but I also hope it doesn't stretch out too far.

The Dauntless looks enormous compared to the Protostar.
I like that Holo-Janeway kept her Protostar uniform.

It does.
It really gives us a sense of scale of these ships right next to each other.
But then again, the Protostar is quite small... onl 4 decks large - 3 decks in the saucer, and the bottom section of the secondary hull is the 4th deck which houses most of the stuff including the vehicle replicator.

The Dauntless secondary hull/neck is at least 4 decks high on its own (possibly 5)... with the saucer section adding another 10 decks it seems

All in all, the Dauntless might be larger than Voyager (or it could be same size - but lengthier).

So, we're looking at almost (if not exactly) 4x the size differential in favour of the Dauntless compared to the Protostar.

EDIT:
I think I may have to revise my original estimates of the real Dauntless size vs the fake one.
The fake one had 7 decks it seems.
I found some diagrams which show internal deck layout, and the saucer apparently has 7 decks, but the secondary hull has a few more - about 2 or decks - but I wouldn't be surprised if SF increased its own Dauntless size to be larger than that.
The exterior seems to suggest something the size of the Intrepid class from what I saw in the promo.
Ah, we'll see.

My solution would be as simple as possible

message in a bottle

I know.
There are many ways to relay a message without opening a comms link... but who knows, its possible they WILL actually do this at some point (but Janeway and the Dauntless might not give them opportunities to do that).

We also need to realize that Janeway is under the impression that someone apparently stole the Protostar - still, one would think Janeway with all her experience wouldn't necessarily jump the gun like that.
She was on the receiving end of bad misunderstandings in the DQ... but then again, she also has a personal stake in this... Chakotay.

That explains her anger of course. We’re it just me on the ship, I’d just ram an asteroid with me jumping out before impact.

My approach would have been more analytical despite on whether the captain of the Protostar was someone close to me or not.
Still, I can understand how Janeway might feel about the situation. No comms, no explanations, just the Protostar, alien lifesigns onboard and the ship keeps running away.
In fairness, I might have thought the ship was being stolen as well... but I might also consider other possibilities (besides, SF officers are supposed to do so anyway).

Restrictive collars always has been Star Trek code for "villain" or at least "mean." Case in point, whenever we see an intentionally militaristic take on Starfleet, or an organization which is intentionally meant to be military in general, restrictive collars is one of the features to look for with their uniforms.

We've seen that Starfleet uses a variety of uniforms during the 2380s. I presume the USS Protostar outfit is unique. However, I wonder if the Dauntless uniform is unique to that ship or if other vessels/installations in Starfleet wear that?

Something I both love and hate about new Star Trek is taking the TNG uniform variation silliness and multiply it by a thousand. Every ship and installation and fleet division its own variant! Variants within those variants! Uniforms that could be argued are the same uniforms but turn out to actually be variants!

If I didn't LOVE uniforms so much it'd be annoying.

Every captain has one of those create-a-uniform things from Star Trek Online

I find it all quite fun. I know it's frustrating to many, especially since a lot of Trek has basically had one or two uniforms (work uniform and dress uniform mostly). While the variations are pushing ridiculousness, I find them all very fun to work within and create a way they all connect together. Variety is the spice of life.

Wwll, it seems the crew figures out the danger they pose to Starfleet vessels pretty quick. Hope that bodes well for Gwyn's recovery.
They name it the "living construct" in this clip. Since those words were not used by the Diviner, it would seem that they have gotten info from some other source but Gwyn's memories (who may or may not have been fully restored at this point). The more interesting part of that missing memory may yet be the information about Solus.

We also didn’t see the whole conversation between Gwyn & The Diviner before her memory was wiped.
